Few days ago I went to fill my gas tank (usually $35ish). But as I was filling my tank and it stopped at just over $25 thought something was wrong. I asked God to help me be an effective soul winner. At first I didn’t think He answered my prayer. Until I began to think back: In September of last year, I had a simple idea to go into neighboring apartments to play with the children who live there. Not preach. Just play. We invited them to have breakfast on Sunday morning after Sunday School. We don’t have a church van, so some of our members go and pick the kids up personally. We don’t have a large budget, but our adult Sunday School students generously contribute each week to make sure the kids have a FULL breakfast: I mean grits, hot cakes, bacon, eggs—Sis Sophia and Sis Jessica put in LOVE! 6 of the kids were baptized in Jesus’ Name. In October, we provided heat for a single mom of 3 whose gas was turned off. We were able to bless 20 families with a Thanksgiving Dinner. In addition to blessing each of our students with gifts, we were able to make Christmas extra special for a single mother with 10 children and another single mom with 5 children four of which are her nieces and nephew that she adopted. She undergoes dialysis 3 times a week (will you keep her in prayer?). Some of the kids text me and FaceTime me during the week to make sure we don’t forget them on Sunday! I pray for the families and send an encouraging text every week. Just to build relationship and show them that we care. Many of the children have been coming to Sunday School consistently for the last SIX months AND stay for morning worship. We’re not a huge church but we’re making a big impact and it started with something small. This is only the beginning....
