Elena's eyes stayed glued on the spot that she had just entered from. He'd been there on the other side with her, they'd just died in order to save everyone. She passed through Bonnie, and there she was standing next to Caroline and Stefan and yet Damon wasn't walking through. "He has to be waiting for dramatic effect, right?" She whispered as she turned to meet Stefan's eyes. "He's....He's going to walk through that portal any second right?....ri--" the sound of absolute nothing was screaming in Elena's ears. Her eyes searching and searching. Her heart was pounding as she waited for any sign of Damon coming through. "Why is he taking so long?!" Her resolve was faltering, she could feel the weight crushing her chest as death threatened to wrap her in darkness once more. This can't happen again. I can't do this again. The only reason Elena had gotten in the car with Damon was because of this fear. She was terrified that his plan wouldn't work and he'd end up dead without her. Now that was exactly the reality she was faced with. Her eyes were already clouding over with tears when she turned to find out what was taking so long. She walked into the crypt only to find Liv was gone. "No.." she whispered. Bonnie walking in behind her, Elena's voice already too far past broken. As her best friend told her it was too late, Elena crumpled to the floor. She couldn't take this, not again. After a few moments Elena was alone and she was making no effort to control her sobbing.
