“I bet you were such a heartbreaker, as a little kid,” Kaeya nuzzles into Childe’s embrace. “The cutest little rascal.”

“Ha. Ha.” Childe says, memories of the orthodontic braces, the huge glasses, the fucking scoliosis back brace, spilling into his mind. “Yeah. Absolutely.”

Kaeya lifts his head up to look at Childe and he’s got a curious, questioning look in his eyes.

Then, he grins.

Oh no.

Zagreus blinks. “I’ve got what?”

“Bad eyesight, dear,” Mother says. “You need glasses.”

Hypnos, damn him, bursts into laughter.

If there is any trace of mortality in Zagreus, he is better off for it. Except for the eyesight problem. That part is a little terrible.

“Hypnos, that is a rat.”

“This—” Hypnos walks over to the cage, opening it and taking the rat into his hands. He brandishes it toward Thanatos proudly. “—Is our new roommate! And I love him to bits already so if you say no, I will cry on you for a month.”

“Charon,” Thanatos turns to Charon, who has been sitting on the couch this entire time drinking what seems to be wine in a mug, just watching this rat-centric spectacle. “You can’t possibly approve of this.”

Charon sets his mug down on the coffee table and signs, “I like to watch the rat scurry.”

Marlon “Hellstriker” Stevens is one of the most legendary monster-slaying adventurers in all of recent history, but one month ago Hellstriker had announced his abrupt retirement and dropped off the face of the Earth. Harvey was never a fanboy, or anything, but he kept with the news enough to idly wonder where somebody that interesting would settle down.

Apparently, the answer is Stardew Valley.

Now, Harvey has the unenviable task of getting the world-renowned Hellstriker himself to register into the town clinic, get his damn leg checked, and, eventually, learn how to adjust to living when death isn’t nipping at his heels.

(Or the one where Marlon is famous but weird, Harvey is frustrated but determined, and friendships are forged in places where one least expects it.)

“Ugh, okay fine, I’ll do Dancing With The Stars. Not like you’re giving me a choice.” Childe grumbles, taking a sip of his drink. “Who’s the choreographer?”

“I got you the pretty one, you’re welcome,” Lumine claps him on the shoulder. “Aether and I met with him this morning, and we really think you two would have great chemistry.”

Childe raises an eyebrow. “A name would be nice.”

“Kaeya Alberich ring a bell to you?” Lumine smirks.

Childe chokes on his wine.

Ajax “Childe” Tartaglia is an up and coming heartthrob action movie actor who’s career is in danger because of a physical assault scandal. His agents decide that the best next step to salvage his image and career is to sign him up for Dancing With The Stars paired with the choreographer Kaeya Alberich.

Haha. Of all choreographers to get paired with, it really had to be his ex, huh?

“I’ve done the routine just like you taught—”

“Yes, but a dance isn’t just a dance,” Kaeya says, his gaze intense. “It’s a performance, it’s a story, and you,” Kaeya pokes him in the chest. “You aren’t playing you’re part. This is a story about cheating, about betrayal, and you’ve always been good at playing the bad boy, but right now, you’re doing a shit job. Get back into your head, back into your body, and show me what you’re actually capable of.” 

Kaeya leans in, right up into Childe’s face, and looks at Childe head on. Childe feels the air in his lungs still.

“You never hesitated about anything in the past,” Kaeya says softly, his words a challenge, igniting the fire in Childe’s mind to never, ever lose. “Now is a lousy time for you to start.”

Kaeya steps back and barks out. “From the top!”

Childe clenches his fists and takes a deep breath as the music starts up again. 

Fine. Kaeya wants a performance? Childe is going to give it to him.

“A meteor crash landed on your farm, forest spirits fixed the bridge north of town because you gave them produce, and you’re starting to hear the trees speak to you in your dreams,” Harvey counts off on his fingers. “Don’t you think all of that is, well, even a little bit out of the ordinary?”

“Huh,” Ronnie says. “I mean, now that you say it like that, it absolutely does.”

“How did you not notice?” Harvey sounds slightly pained.

Ronnie shrugs. “Well, I’ve been busy being in love with you.”

Harvey puts his face into his hands and groans. But it’s an affectionate groan and Ronnie can very much see the blush on his face. Score.

Ronnie and Harvey are Not Dating Yet but they have a Mutual Understanding of their reciprocated romantic feelings and they are Taking It Slow. It’s pretty great.

It’s so great that it distracts Ronnie very much and they and have trouble realizing things are....weird, to say the least, about Stardew Valley, Pelican Town, and oddly enough, themself.

Or: a romantic comedy love story that’s also a supernatural mystery.
