Zines have been my hobby for over 25 years. @alana_tattoos started fulfilling my requests for silly zine tattoos 9 years ago and my right leg is almost full and I want more! Some of the sites you will see here on my zine leg sleeve: a photocopier, an old school Kinko's counter, a mail box, envelope, a saddle stitch stapler, a staple remove that looks like a snake head along with bent Staples as filler, scissors, gluestick, washi tape with traditional tattoo imagery on the wash tape, a tiny zine, a cutting board, a brain for brainscan zines, and a Sharpie for Stolen Sharpie Revolution. Happy First Day of International Zine Month! The prompt for today is to write your own description for zine and share it.

I made this vegan corn chowder last night and with corn I grew in my own yard and a recipe my sister @weblybowles made for a calendar that was pretty much like a zine so I think it counts as my activity for Day 8 of International Zine Month. #izm2020 It starts with boiling down 2-4 corn cobs (after kernels are removed and set aside), skin of one onion (dice onion, set aside) , skin of 2 potatoes (dice the rest and set aside) in 4 cups of water and cook down to half and then you have a broth. Strain that. Sautee that diced 1 onion in some olive oil in a pot that will fit that broth and more. Add those 2 cubed potatoes, corn kernels, and the broth from the cobs and skins. Add a can of coconut milk. I can't follow a recipe so I added 2 carrots peeled and cut in big chunks (those skins were also in broth), I also added a bay leaf, sprigs of thyme, a dash of Bragg's liquid aminos, and salt and pepper. Plus some chives and green onions on top. Its my favorite summer and early autumn soup when the corn is fresh and delicious. You must use corn on the cob. Don't use frozen corn kernels.
