Put together my standard izzet today...
Not happy with it yet. But it's still a good solid idea I think, but just needs tuning.

Built my make shift izzet deck yesterday. I decided not to play it last night. I don't quite have the idea I am going for solidified. I am going to have to order some cards for it. On a different note, I modified my blue green black counter deck to be a mill deck. And it was effective against the only deck my cousin would play against it. All in all I had a ton of fun last night! I am looking forward to getting a deck I feel confident enough to try a standard tournament soon.

HOKAY
So I ended up going 1-3.
BUT THAT'S OKAY because about halfway through round 2 I started to get a feel for what I was doing wrong and the kinds of cards I should be running. I sided in a one-of Epic Experiment, and any game I played it in I won. So I switched out some stuff and put in three of those for starters. I'll continue tweaking throughout the week and I'll post a 2.0 decklist some time tomorrow hopefully.
It was, as always, tons of fun taking this deck on its maiden voyage. I'm excited to see what i can do with it after a few weeks when it's in better shape.
V 1.0: D-
So, making an Izzet Deck for RTR/Theros standard. What I got so far under the cut
16 Spells 4x Some blue cantrip 4x Lightning Strike 4x Curse of the Swine 4x Steam Augury
22 Lands 4x Steam Vents 4x Izzet Guildgates (will be switched out once Izzet Temples come out) 7 Mountains 7 Islands
waiting to see what else is in store. But I do like the idea of the deck. Control the board, keep it clear, beat face. Probably needs counterspells, and probably don't need 4 Aetherlings. Also more draw power. But rough, five seconds of thought idea. What can I say I'm an izzet at heart.
Young pryomancer should go in here... subtract a few others, add in a few there, get some more spells in....
