Sketchbook: Izzina Lazolt design process
Final Design: Her colors were decided on, and her horns made horizontal. The anklet she has on does have some significance to her design, it is supposed to be gold (it is the only piece of jewelry she wears). It is a bit of a social commentary on her part. She feels shackled to her bloodcaste, she refuses to outwardly display her blood color.
30 Days of Character Development: Day 14
I have chosen three characters whom need to be worked on or expanded further.
Yarhozalikon Queranel’r: I use this character’s shortened name as my online alias, created in 2002 and main character of a manga project on hiatus. Started as a fan character for YGO!
Ryusaki (right): From the same series, he quite possibly needs a name change and a less 2-D personality.
Izzina Lazolt: Fantroll for a roleplay SBURB-like homestuck project. My newest character.
14.) How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?
Yarho
She is quite good about dealing with changes in the weather. At one point she lives in a valley right between two deserts: one of ice and one of sand. So she know how it is like to venture into either of those climates "suddenly". She doesn't have too much of a problem staying out in either for prolonged periods of time so long as she is dressed appropriately.
Ryusaki
He doesn't deal well with either. They make him uncharacteristically irritable and cause him to process things slower. He is sort of like a computer in that he needs to be in moderate temperatures to be at an optimal processing condition.
Izzina
Very hot weather can make her dizzy and pass out. Being a cold blooded she can't handle much of that. That comes with being a seadweller, therefore used to being submerged in water so in addition she can get easily dehydrated from that. Cold weather she can tolerate, there is a risk of dehydration there too but cold weather is akin to what she experiences on the deeper and darker parts of the ocean where sunlight can't reach to warm the depths. So of the two she is more suited to cold weather.

Yarho
She sleeps on a rolled out futon rather than an actual bed, or a sleeping bag if she is on the road. If she does leave it out the blankets are all bunched over to the side. Yarho usually sleeps in a fetal position and her pillow usually gets knocked away too so she gets cricks in her neck when she wakes up or her arm is asleep because she used it as a pillow instead.
Ryusaki
His bed is always pristine and well made after he wakes up. The blankets are smoothed out and the pillows are fluffed, almost like a showroom bed or something. Ryusaki sleeps flat on his back with one arm bent over his head and the other resting on his stomach.
Izzina
Since she is a troll she doesn't have a traditional bed, she sleeps in a slime filled recuperacoon. Hers is custom-made so it lays down horizontally to accommodate her horns (so she doesn't have the same problem Tavros does not being able to fit in his). She makes sure not to dribble slime around when she gets in and out of her recuperacoon. It is the only part of her room she keeps tidy. She also sleeps in random piles of pillows she keeps lying around for impromptu naps particularly in the library portion of her hive. Due to her horns and the slime in the recuperacoon, she can only sleep on her back. So she sleeps like that with both her hands resting on her stomach when she sleeps on her back. I realize this is kind of a stereotypical sleeping pose for a princess haha but that can't be helped. When she is not sleeping in her recuperacoon, she will sleep on her stomach with her face tucked under one of her arms while the other is just there. Her legs would be kind of curled inwards too, so she probably would look dead is someone saw her like that XD

12.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?
Yarho
Did not grow up in a very technologically advanced area. Due to a lack of exposure she is pretty shit when it comes to being technologically competent. It took her a while to grasp the use of email, which she begrudgingly uses to keep in contact with her employer. Aside from that she pointedly avoids the use of new technology because it frustrates her. She is embarrassed by he lack of prowess in that regard. The remoteness of where she lived while growing up meant no motorized vehicles aside from maybe delivery vans so she has very little exposure. She prefers to send letters as they are more personal.
Ryusaki
His skill of perfect concentration allows him to pick up on new things easily. He is not a technological whiz by any means, but he has no problems with new technology. Like Yarho, he did not grow up in an affluent metropolis. So he had little access to technology until he began his job.
Izzina
Living more or less isolated during the past 9 sweeps Izzina spent the bulk of her time doing pretty much four things: hunting, sleeping, drawing, and dicking around on the Internet. It may not look it but she is a technological wizard, this is fueled entirely by her never ending boredom. Her hobbies include finding strange unknown things on the Internet. This is how she found the copy of SBARG. She managed to find her way onto a webpage not attached to Alternia or any of it's colonies. All she knew was that it was a super secret game that only few people win. Izzina does not write code but she navigates and uses new technology almost effortlessly.

11.) Is there an animal you equate with your character?
Yarho
Probably an animal that can hold it's own. One that is resilient and learns from it's mistakes... albeit slowly. Super slow. Like, a turtle? Haha or a snail. No, I am kidding on that front XD. I would choose a falcon. I don't remember if this fact goes with eagles or falcons (or both?) but: a chick when it's old enough is pushed from it's nest to learn to fly. She has essentially been in that state of suspension much of her life, its either spread her wings or fall to her death. There is no middle path for her to walk. Or fly haha.
Ryusaki
A proud animal that can stand up for himself and others who bears responsibility for many things could work for him. Has a goofy or playful side to him too, although he plays that side up a lot. Resourceful too. So I would say he is a raccoon. Those guys are pretty scrapy, especially the bastards who live in cities. Don't underestimate those guys, raccoons are fucking crazy.
Izzina
Izzina is a leader who is unsure of herself more often than not. She tends to conceal her insecurities while trying to make the best of a bad situations through maintaining an easy going laissez-faire demeanor. Based on this I would equate her with a dolphin. Which is strange because she is modeled after a shark and haha sharks are not like that. They are hunters of the sea. Specifically she is modeled after the "stereotypical" shark. The blood thirsty hunter of the sea. Sure, and quick. While she does appear menacing and has the capacity to give off this aura, I really would have to say she has turned out to be more of a Dolphin. Especially around her friends, she will turn tricks and practically bend over backwards to get in someones good graces. She is very much a people pleaser. This may seem "out of character" for her, but this is her underlying motivation.
