Staring at the letter in his hands in disbelief, anyone looking at James might have thought he’d just won the lottery or something even better which, to James, it just might have been.
“I... the New York Philharmonic just got in touch with me and they wanted to look into me as a composer” He said, still trying to get around to registering the fact
“I- what? Sorry, I totally wasn’t paying attention there” James said, looking up at the other from the piano with a sincerely apologetic look on his face “What can I help you with?”
“I used to say The Bronx got cold but I think Charleston’s proved itself to live up to being just as cold as good old NYC” James laughed, shaking his head “My hot cup of Joe that I got two minutes ago is now cool”
As James entered the administration block- or what used to be the administration block prior to the events committee fixing it up for the New Years Eve party- he couldn’t help but stare in wonder at the amazing job they’d done setting up the whole thing. It was almost impossible to believe just looking at it like that,
“Yeah... I should probably have gotten a better suit for this” He said, blinking as he tried to snap out of the awe he still felt looking at the whole setup
“So everyone’s gone out and bought me expensive gifts and I think I’m just going to lie here and die internally while I debate what to get them and fall deeper into the abyss because nothing’s even close to matching up to the things they’ve gotten me”
James hadn’t even realized when he’d fallen asleep until he’d almost tumbled off of the sofa of the library, eyes opening as he saw someone looking at him and gave them an apologetic smile,
“Sorry, I didn’t even realize I’d fallen asleep”
“Over Thanksgiving break I have learnt that the best food here actually resides in the vending machine such as the majestic cheese puffs”
