Imperial #1 - "One" (2025)
written by Jonathan Hickman art by Iban Coello, Federico Vicentini, & Federico Blee
A strategic assassination attempt on several intergalactic leaders has put every Galactic Superpower on the brink of an all-out interstellar war. The Intergalactic Meeting grows with more tension when J'Son of Spartax accuses Emperor Hulkling of conspiring with the assassins who poisoned Empress Victoria of Spartax, King Hiro-Kala of Sakaar and other alien leaders. Emperor Hulkling and Wiccan try to defend themselves and their people that they would not do such a thing and they should not be blamed or arrested without proof. Then, a Kree Science Minister admits that he made the poison for war behind Emperor Hulkling's back but he only delivered the poison to someone else instead of using it. However, before the Kree Science Minister could make a full confession, he gets sniped in front of everyone. Chaos breaks out in the meeting when not only the Kree science minister is shot, the Kymellian Leader is shot down too. Xandra is saved by Gladiator before the space bullet could hit her. Just when Amadeus Cho could analyze where the space bullet came from, J'Son of Spartax is shot down in front of Star-Lord and everyone. Hulk goes after an assassin who happens to be an unknown Wakandan agent. Before Hulk could catch him; the Wakandan agent launches a bomb and destroys the glass roof of the Intergalactic Parliament, causing the aliens to be sucked out into the orbit. Hulk had little choice but to save the dying aliens from the orbit while the Wakandan gets away.
Later on, the surviving aliens have recovered the bodies of the aliens. Super-Skrull confirms to Star-Lord that the twelve aliens are dead and he reports that Emperor Hulkling and Wiccan are among the missing. Super-Skrull also mentions that even when the rescue drones are sent out to search the missing aliens (and his emperor), it would be difficult because space vacuum is vast. Super-Skrull reports that Ronan has called up the Accusers as well as the Shi'Ar Imperial Guard are preparing for a potential war. Just as Star-Lord could take the ring from his dead father, Richard Rider shows up. An hour later, the survivors gather for a meeting to find out who had murdered the intergalactic leaders and who is the sniper. As Ronan reports that Wakandan agent is out there, Hulk declares a war.
