TBT Rhink Fic Rec #6
Ember in the Ashes by @j-lyn (JennaLee on AO3)
Summary: On a camping trip at home in North Carolina, Rhett and Link exchange local tales while the fire burns down boundaries.(Written for the Rhink Summer Ficathon - prompt, 'Bonfire'.) Rating: E Chapters: 1 Word Count: 4,718
Why I recommend it: Without revealing too much of the plot, I’ll say that this fic is a beautiful blend of creepy supernatural storytelling and sexy fireside fun. I’m a sucker for authors who incorporate research into their fics, and that is definitely the case with this one. The mythical tales from North Carolina work so well as a backdrop for the tension between RandL. (Full disclosure: this was one of the first Rhink fics I read, so it holds a special place in my heart.)

today I got yelled at because I told a customer that the item she wanted to return didn’t come from our store, if that makes you feel any better? She asked me all sarcastic, “well, where do YOU think it’s from?” and I looked at the tag inside and said well it says H&M… “But that’s all the way across town at the other mall!” well bitch you better get drivin
honestly that does make me feel better

→ Darkest Before Dawn by JennaLee
rated NC17 82,763 words; 14 chapters angst, romance, smut, fluff // serious injuries, near death experiences [ Hidden and repressed feelings come to the surface when a catastrophic accident makes Arin and Dan realize how fleeting life can be.]
There had been no time to think. No time to react. It all happened so fast.
Arin learned later that there had been four shots fired, but somehow he only heard one. All the noise blurred together into a hellish roar. A bullet did hit the intended victim in the arm, and he had started to run - in their direction. Two shots missed when the attacker fired after him.
The fourth had hit Dan.
