This is a dirty combo someone at the shop showed me. I wanted you all to see it for its creativity, but know it denies your opponents their hand. You start with Jace's Archivist. Windfall. Lets say a moderate windfall for 5 in a four player game. Flash in Notion Thief, draw 20 cards and your opponents draw none. Throw out Dream Salvage, draw 5 more. For (2)UUB and U/B you've drawn 25 cards and denied your opponents a hand. Seems pretty ok.

On my turn, I cast Boomerang, targeting my opponent's Jace's Archivist. He then taps Jace's Archivist, forcing everyone to discard their hand. My opponent says that because both are instant speed, my Boomerang would have no effect. Is he correct?

Jace’s Archivist’s ability will resolve first, making everyone discard and draw, then Boomerang will resolve and return Jace’s Archivist to its owner’s hand.

Activating the Archivist doesn’t somehow stop Boomerang from resolving.
