I was thinking some more about Jaces clone spell and the fact that in the final battle when he the original died the one remaining clone was still alive.

Like it’s clearly not a concentration spell or anything that’s dependant on Jace continuing to cast and I doubt dispell magic would get rid of the clones cause that just feels to easy/ obvious weakness.

So what if there’s actually no way for Jace to stop the spell, he uses all his meta magic and sorcery points creating them so he has nothing left to undo reality and get rid of them.

That is to say Jace creating a clone/clones for a battle, extra help or just to do a task he doesn’t wanna do and the clone to turn to him; “everything good? You need me for anything or can I leave now?” Jace is like thanks man appreciate it and no need for you to stick around, and casually pulls a knife from his coat and plunges it into his exact copies neck.

The clone bleeds out in a matter of seconds and Jace casts some spell to clean the mess and get rid of the body, before going back to teaching a shocked class of first years.

All that to say I’m loving the idea of Jace being so used to the death/killing of his clones to be point of being utterly desensitised to it and forgetting that others may find it upsetting/ horrifying etc.

He’s without really thinking asked Porter if he could just break his clones neck and burn the body somewhere since he’s in a rush and also trying to be economical offered to let Zara drink his clone dry if she wants (Zara definitely does, Vampires are predatory by nature and drinking her entire fill while also ending her prey lights up parts of Zara’s brain she tries really hard to control)

Also just to be clear, the Jace clones are fully aware of their existence as illusionary doubles and the fact they will end up being murdered once they’re no longer currently useful. They’re also all absolutely ok with this and completely chill about the situation which honestly makes people (Jawbone mainly) kinda worried about Jaces mental state since they are copies of him.

YEAH ! this is very fun but i especially like zara being able to kill the clones. maybe she sets them loose first to activate her predator drive,,

also the last sentence !! the subtext that jace sees himself as easily disposable and not worth any sort of dignified death,,,especially if this is post shatterstar like huh. i wonder why he feels like that.

I love the idea that after J2 gets called Bluejay, J3 goes through a phase of trying out different names for himself. He's just. He's fine with the fact that he isn't Jace, he's just sick of being Three.

J2 is endlessly supportive whenever he has a new idea, meanwhile J4 is just constantly shooting down every one of his suggestions.

Jasper doesn't suit you. Jesse's a great name for a cowboy, less so for a sorcerer. You're far too old to pull off Jax.

One day Jace is yelling at J3, and it gives him a great idea and he bounces up to J4 like, guess what Jace just called me.

And J4 has to talk J3 out of naming himself Harlot.

J3 realises that they all have the potential to make clones of themselves, if they wanted. He points this out to the other two, and before he can even finish the sentence, J4 is interrupting with "NO. No, absolutely not. We are not creating people just to drag them into this mess."
