Jack Combs, who played for the Oklahoma City Barons for part of 2013-14, has signed with Toros (VHL) in Neftekamsk, Bashkortostan, Russia. From last night's game against Milwaukee.... one of our newest players, Jack Combs. This one taken a split second before he put the puck past Admirals goaltender Marek Mazanec. Gorgeous goal, Jack.... and welcome to the Barons!
The Eagles and the Monsters
The Colorado Avalanche have recently reassigned four more players from the big club to their AHL affiliate the Lake Erie Monsters. Those players were Tyson Barrie, Brad Malone, Patrick Bordeleau, and Trevor Cann. And they still need to cut four more players before Oct. 8 season opener against the Detroit Red Wings.
This means that Colorado Eagles (of the ECHL) will most likely see forward Chad Costello return during preseason. He has been in Lake Erie for all of training camp and two preseason games, in which he has recorded one assist. Likely, he will be back in town for the Eagles' final preseason game at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo. on Oct. 7th against the Las Vegas Wranglers.
Costello played last season with the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey league, and was called-up to play eight games with the Monsters. Costello led the team in scoring in the regular season with 84 points (34 goals, 50 assists) in the regular season. Then he continued a masterful season into the playoffs where he also led the team in scoring with nearly 2 points per game average (19 points in 10 games).
The Eagles signed Costello in the off season along with Jack Combs, the #2 scorer for the Oilers last season in both the regular (40-42-82) and post season (3-7-10). This dynamite tandem will bring some of the best offensive talent from the CHL into the ECHL, and Colorado will gladly accept their services, I'm sure.
