Hyperforce + Super Megaforce ep thoughts/doodles

I want to draw ALL OF THE THINGS from ep 18, so many great bits and funny bits and bonus footage bits yet all I seem to draw is a mess. 

(major spoilers for ep-18) 

tl;dr:  Malika and team did such a wonderful job incorporating super megaforce, god, it was so good. 

...and some doodle fanart. 

It made perfect sense for the hyperforce team to meet Orion, and we get to meet him at TWO different times: 3 months after the Armada attacked his village in Andresia and during the legendary battle on Earth. 

This ep wasn’t playing around and we got to meet the Orion that was in mourning/survival mode after he lost everyone he knew. It was dark period of his life and we got to see it even if it’s a table top rpg but I like to think of it as canon. I got excited Malika described Andresia (mostly water with luscious green lands), and to bring back Orion’s resourcefulness such as hunting. We even got a funny bit between Orion and Eddie fishing, coincidentally both wield tridents as their ranger weapons. Funnily enough, Orion and Jack bonding was a pleasant surprise, aside from Orion and Marv speaking their alien language to each other to hilairous results. 

When the team and Orion take down an armada ship/pod/flyer for themselves, I like that it doesn’t change the canon in SMF, he is still clearly in revenge mode and he understands the hyperforce team cannot stay with him. But you know what this means? He told white lies to the megaforce team regarding his story in Silver Linings p1&2. What’s even striking is that Orion portrayed on the show wasn’t purely blinded by revenge, he was vulnerable and open to the rangers --- maybe the interactions with the hyperforce team had some effect, just think about it: Jack even said revenge will not solve your problems iirc. There were some words of wisdom exchanged between Jack and Marv and Orion but I can’t recall in verbatim. However, I like to think their words stayed???

It’s the little details I appreciate that they honour canon especially the big legendary battle where we meet Orion once again. I just wanna say this part was filled with amazing bits and I’ll not spoil it just because it was just so fun to see the legendary battle through another perspective. This is where I truly wished I could draw and animate to bring these scenes to life, especially when Malika had to play other characters*cough*Troy*cough*...*wheeze*mavro*cough* like, !!!!! The ‘Super Megaforce Bonus footage’ Andre giddily termed, and just like him, I was fangirling like a maniac, no really, I was ready to die from excitement. 

And then the post-battle scene. What else can I say but truly heart-warming. The fact we get another goodbye between the hyperforce team and Orion, AND even when Marv offered a ride back to Andresia, Orion initially was ok cool “I want to give Noah a high five before I go”, BUT ultimately chose to stay anyways, because he basically found his second family (the FEELS my god, he prob said something else but idc the feels are strong, man). 

I could go on about the others but this is already TL;DR and I’m still trying to remember everything!!! Ugh.

- sad eddie this ep (not just from the ‘break-up’ but also revealing his fear of being alone), included WIP bc I’ve been staring at the ONLY reference pic of eddie and trying to draw him to his likeness and I tried my best. I might scan it later and post.
