THE GREAT PLAYOFF BLURB EVENT
you had originally gotten jack the shirt as a joke, something that he would open, laugh at, then shove to the back of his closet. but, as it turned out, he actually loved it a lot more than you thought he would.
you had customised one of those shirts that people usually made for celebrities but gotten your face on it instead. it was an anniversary present you had gotten him to tide him over until his actual gift came but he ended up liking it so much that he started wearing it out to run errands.
"come on," he begged, holding the shirt out. you shook your head, rolling your eyes at him. with the nhl ridding of the dress-code policy, players were now able to wear whatever they wanted within reason. and what better way to show off his love for you than wearing the shirt for arrivals?
"jack, no." you stated, moving through your apartment. jack wasn't done, so he followed you around, almost like a dog.
"please, it'll be so funny, everyone'll love it!" this was so unlike him. jack didn't even have social media, so it wasn't like he was going to see what the team posted. and for him to show you off publicly wasn't something you were against, but this was a silly joke you had with each other.
eventually, after almost 30 minutes, jack wore you down, and he pressed a kiss to your head, telling you he'd see you later, a smile on his face as he sported your face proudly on his chest.
as soon as he walked down the hallway, the cameras were flashing. the media team couldn't help but laugh as he opened the lapels of his jacket, showing his shirt off proudly.
"looking good, jacko." malinski teased.
"thanks." jack smiled, not even bothered by his teasing. he loved you and he was proud of it.
by the end of the first period, every person you knew had sent you the photos of jack with his shirt. he proudly showed it off to the camera, not an ounce of embarrassment on his face, just a big smile. the caption read, "when you show up to an 'i love my gf' competition, but your opponent is jack'.
later that night, you were waiting for jack to get home. you had left halfway through the third, and by the time you got home, the avs had won, which you knew would put jack in a good mood so when he got asked questions about his shirt in media after the game, he would be happy and joking about it instead of a little upset and sad.
while you waited in bed, you were checking your phone, scrolling through a few different apps. you clicked on a new notification on instagram when you saw one of the girls had sent you a reel. you smiled when you saw the first bit where jack was standing in front of his locker, messing with his hair and shoving it all back into a hat, flipping it backwards.
"jack, we all saw your shirt for arrivals." jack was already smiling before the man even finished asking the question, "is this a new line of merch the avalanche are launching? i know the jackets the ladies make are a big deal right now, but will we ever see merch with your face on it?"
jack chuckled, "yeah, my girlfriend got it for me as a joke, but i mean, it's one of my favorites." he shrugged, "and it's one of a kind, so if you want one, sorry you're out of luck. it's one of one." he joked. "as for merch with my face on it, you'll have to talk to the merchandise department about that one."

a few weeks after his arrival photos went viral, the avalanche media team had come to you with a great idea. they had gotten a replica shirt of the one you had gotten made for jack, but this time, instead of your face, it was jack's.
the shirt would be sold in the team store for one of the games. when they told you about it, it had just been an idea, so when it finally got approved, you and the team decided to surprise jack with it.
the team had told jack that there was a small thing they needed him to film for social media, and he agreed. he didn't love doing tiktok trends, but he went along with it.
as he walked into the room, there were already cameras on him, and as soon as he saw you, he was beaming. "what're you doing here?" he wasted no time making his way over to you, wrapping you in a hug.
"we have a surprise for you." you started taking your jacket off, flashing him your shirt. as soon as he got a look at his face, he cracked and started laughing.
"you're kidding." he gaped, taking a step back to get a better look at your shirt. "this is insane, guys," he laughed, hugging you again.
"well, we have about 20 at home right now," you informed him with a wince. the team had given you a few of them to give out to friends and family, but also, you needed backups in your closet in case anything happened to the others.
"available at the next game against the wild, for one night only." you quickly changed the subject. "so, make sure to pick up your own jack drury shirt!"
