F.R.I.E.N.D.S (1994–2004) 6X09 « The One Where Ross Got High »
FRIENDS TOW Joey Moves Out / 2x16
I am currently thinking about how Judy Geller thinks her daughter is too intense and people have to be saints to put up with her
Yet Jack and Ross also have those tempers. But it's different. Because it's Monica. I could go on for hours about the implications of gendered favouritism and generational trauma but...
I love that Monica and Chandler had their parents walking them both down the aisle
703 The One With Phoebe's Cookies
Her brother may be talking, but Monica only looks at Chandler when they walk in, when Ross is talking, when Chandler tells the story. Not once does her gaze fall on her brother.
Poor Chandler, he just wants to have a father-figure respect him, and he’s trying to make a good impression on his father-in-law. Jack is so understanding and generous with Chandler all the time. I love their dynamics and I don’t know if its Jack and Chandler (Jack being the father Chandler never had and Chandler being the athletic son Jack wanted, bonding over an intense (albeit different) love for Monica) or Elliot and Matthew (who also seem to adore each other whenever they’re in a room together [reunion highlight]). I just love how they make each other laugh and respect each other, in fiction and in life, and will always put Monica before anything, which is really what endears them in the first place, the father-son dynamic comes later.
monica’s parents spending all her wedding found to buy a beach house because they didn’t believe she would get married (or that she’ll pay herself for everything) is still one of the shittiest moments ever. monica had been dreaming of her wedding all her life and her parents should have have been way more considerate towards her.
