Starting with issue 48, and running through the final issue of the book's initial run (issue 57), Fox Feature Syndicate's BLUE BEETLE opted to utilize Jack Kamen cheesecake covers, eventually relegating the titular hero to a head shot as crime (along with horror) began to replace superheroes as the pre-eminent genre in comics. 1947-1948.

Created in 1939, the Beetle would eventually move to Charlton Comics, before being acquired by DC along with the rest of Charlton's superheroes in the mid-80s. One of the O.G. superheroes.
