Farewell Endeavour
You don't think about something for long enough, you think you've forgotten. Then one day, something comes along.
Tell you, I won't miss shifts like this. How's that? Oh, I've been meaning to say. I've put my papers in. You've resigned? Yeah. Well, you kept that quiet. This girl i've been seeing is..well..pregnant. Funny, it crosses your mind, something like that. I always thought it would be the worst thing that could happen to a bloke, but now it's here it's about one of the best. She's a great girl. June Bride, but not here. America.
Jack Laskey as Peter Jakes in Endeavour
Season 1, Episode 4 - Home
I never realised they were ever in the same shot and I feel really Normal about it
OH HELLO THERE JAKES.
WHY DID I NOT KNOW--
Friday Jakes fidget!
David Oakes 🤝 Jack Laskey
superb classical actors who deserve far more widespread attention and adulation than they get (you *need* to see Laskey doing Shakespeare omg)
extremely beautiful
only very very rarely seen in anything set post-1999
have played significant roles (important one-off in Oakes' case; crucial regular in Laskey's) in the UK tv show Endeavour (known elsewhere as The Young Morse, I believe)...
... specifically (and at least semi-canonically in Oakes' case as they have a Gatsby/Nick thing) being thoroughly shippable with Morse, the lead character
have acted with François Arnaud in period dramas (The Borgias and X Company respectively).
My conclusion from this yet again is that other Endeavour actors in roles shippable with Morse need to co-star with François, especially Roger Allam, James Bradshaw, Sara Vickers, and Shvorne Marks (but I mean throw in all the other Endeavour actors too, inc. Shaun Evans himself, Sean Rigby, Anton Lesser, Caroline O'Neill, etc. etc. etc.).
My other conclusion is that as aforementioned I recommend Oakes and Laskey as underrated but superb actors, who are both apparently lovely people. Also that Oakes is a massive nature nerd (in a gorgeous case of nominative determinism, he has an awesome and pun-ridden environmentalism/nature podcast called Trees a Crowd that François has guested in!), and as also aforementioned watching Laskey in any Shakespearean role is a total treat.
