4. Jack 7. Nash 9.Olivia 6. Will
4. [JACK] has the opportunity to fix one of their most grievous mistakes, but doing so will ensure that they never meet at least one of their loved ones and they will not have any memory of their relationship with those loved ones. Do they take the chance to fix the mistake anyway?
Nope. Contrary to popular belief, Jack’s not stupid enough to think he hasn’t made some pretty massive mistakes, but he’s… actually fairly good about learning to live with them. Shitty or not, he’d definitely take the mistake over erasing a loved one from his life entirely. Because, let’s face it, he’s probably got a pretty specific loved one in mind here.
6. Are there any events in [WILL’S] life that he feels wholly negative about, no silver lining whatsoever?
Ahaha, well, there’s a pretty big one that comes to mind that I can’t actually mention here because, y’know, spoilers. But you know which one I’m talking about.
I still should probably answer the question, though, so let’s consider this: I think an argument can be made that the whole situation with Kendrick in Nineteen changed Will’s life for the better, and I think he definitely looks back on some of that with some weird nostalgia, but as a whole I don’t think he views it very positively. It doesn’t feel heroic, or even very exciting, especially because it nearly ended with his two best friends being killed. Now that he’s several years removed from it and has a little more experience with what the hell Nash was trying to do, I think he realizes just how badly things could have gone, and that takes the shine off of it a little.
7. Does [NASH] have any unfulfilled dreams that can never come true?
Jesus Christ. So, okay. How is “not dying alone?” for an answer. I’m pretty sure Nash regrets, to some degree, making his entire life about the Agency. Because, while he’s done pretty well for himself on that front, he’s gotten where he is at a cost.
Nash never really thought he’d live past the age of like, thirty, and I think that caused him to make a lot of very short-sighted decisions. He spent most of his late twenties running himself into the ground, and screwed up his marriage by being a jerk. Neither of which seemed like a very big deal at the time, but now that he’s out of the field and – surprise! – still alive, he’s finally starting to realize what it’s meant. He’s never going to have anyone to come home to or kids or any of that normal family stuff – stuff that never really interested him until he hit his forties. And he thinks it’s too late for any of that now. He’s also probably not wrong.
Boy, I hope you regret asking that question because I sure regret answering it.
9. Does [OLIVIA] have any negative associations with otherwise neutral or positive things?
Well, she can’t drink vodka anymore after chugging part of a bottle, punching her ex-best friend in the face, and then throwing up in the bath tub.
On a sightly more serious note, you know that ringtone she had, when her phone went off while she, Will, and Jack were hiding from Kendrick? Yeah, she definitely never listened to that song ever again.
On an actual serious note – having to visit the library gave her severe anxiety for the rest of her high school career.
