(And by good at fighting with Karen I don’t mean physically like Matt or Frank. I couldn’t find one for the bottom right so I settled for Jack even if he was paid for most of his losses💔)

Jack Murdock drops his son off at college, from the Daredevil "negative one" retrospective issue. This is the only time we see this specific event from Matt's early life on panel, and I love that the issue emphasizes what a massive shift this is for both of them—for Jack, who has always been over-protective, now seeing his son go off and do something he's never done himself; and for Matt, who is eager to prove himself and assert his independence but, nevertheless, is in a whole new world and comes to realize just how much he's going to miss his dad.

(A note for the continuity-conscious: This issue uses the original Lee/Everett continuity, in which Matt and Foggy attended the fictional State College in upstate New York, not Columbia University.)

A series of gifs shows Matt Murdock both tending wounds for and having his wounds tended by his parents and other significant people in his life. First, a flashback to young Matt stitching his injured father's forehead in their apartment from Daredevil Season 1. Below, Claire Temple stitches Matt's chest as he sits shirtless in a chair (also in Season 1), and Foggy Nelson uses a handkerchief to soak up the blood coming from a wound on Matt's neck as they stand outside on a street in Hell's Kitchen in Season 2. Below that, Matt's mother, Maggie, dabs at a bloody wound on his chest with gauze as they stand in the crypt of Clinton Church in Season 3. Underneath that, Matt puts a bandage over stitches on the back of Elektra Natchios' neck while standing in the kitchen of his loft in Season 2, and Matt bandages Karen Page's arm in the crypt of Clinton Church in Season 3. Jack wasn't a perfect father, but he did everything he could to make sure Matt grew up to be a decent man. Matt was everything he lived for and worked for, however and wherever he could. Jack is a good man. If he weren't, Maggie wouldn't have left Matt with him.
