Imagine falling after a trick goes wrong and Jack Wilder catching you.
8, 11, 23, 24 for jack?
for this ask meme! my darling feral cowboy Jack Darling Wilde mwah, for an upcoming campaign in Sigil! he's a werewolf, he's an elf, he's a semi-socialized coyote dropped into the biggest city in the multiverse to work collections for a casino, i love him immensely
8) What hobbies does your OC have? What do they do to unwind?
honestly his favorite thing to do is disappear for like three weeks minimum lmao. just go camping. go rough it for a while. just chill in the woods and not speak to another human person the entire time. he loves that shit.
but uhhhhh the woods is in short supply in Sigil so usually his company-approved downtime is a) socializing in bars, b) napping in weird places, and c) the occasional underground fighting ring. and also mauling a local bird for mutual recreation apparently hghdg
11) What was your inspiration for your OC?
cowboy + werewolf + unacknowledged issues = fun times
EDIT I REMEMBERED WHAT I WAS GONNA SAY HERE so my boy Jack has been on the backburner for A Bit, bc a while back he was destined for a victorian cosmic horror type campaign. that got shelved but i kept the werewolf cowboy concept around bc he’s an all organic grass fed goodboy, and when i dusted him off for Fortune’s Wheel he got to keep his old name as a background alias. and i’m more pleased with him now than i was, turns out he just needed to sit in the fridge for a bit to let all his flavors get acquainted, and now he’s much more well-rounded in ways i can’t elaborate on where the party can see :3
23) Is your OC reliable? Can I call them up at two in the morning if I have a flat tire?
hmmmm yes? sure. listen he's been a ranger and wilderness guide, he knows how to handle transportation breakdowns and can probably reverse-engineer a tire change in a pinch, and if you're able to contact him that means he already knows you (and you're probably Kaeden) and yeah, he'd come get u with a minimum of friendly roasting
24) Can they play any instruments? If so, what do they play?
he can play the flute really well! he doesn't like it :)
also probably the fiddle but that's definitely an acquired taste lmao
and LAST for this list of oc questions, twas DEALER'S CHOICE which i slapped right on my boy Jack Darling Wilde bc i don't talk about him enough. a cowboy, a flirt, an elf taller and scruffier than any elf has a right to be. in collections, though he's nice about it.
1 - What's the lie your character says most often?
[REDACTED]
18 - Who do they love truly, 100% unconditionally (if anyone)?
this is so typical but like. the man's best friend is a horse.
that, and love is… tricky. love is a bit outside his wheelhouse, so to speak. which doesn't necessarily bother him! he's not fussed about love. he just knows a bit too keenly how it can go.
22 - What simple activity that most people do/can do scares your character?
honestly, he doesn't get scared much! he's at a point in his existence that, while far from invulnerable, he's experienced enough shit to be confident in his ability to handle most anything that happens to him.
but hmmm, to answer the question very literally; when people start talking about fate, he gets nervous. he doesn't like thinking about fate, or destiny, or predetermination. and he doesn't like the idea that other people give those concepts power with belief.
37 - What's a secret they haven't told serious romantic partners and don't plan to tell?
didn't i just say he doesn't have those?
21, 43, 52 for OC asks!
answering forrrrr [spins wheel] Jack Darling Wilde! cowboy werewolf elfman thing, set loose in Sigil in an upcoming dnd campaign :>
21. What common etiquette do they disagree with? Do they still follow it?
Jack's not one for etiquette is the thing, he's more of a... loose n honest type. really he disagrees with a lot of it, but he still follows the forms for the sake of keeping the peace. it just tends to have a slightly mocking edge when the recipient is flaunting their status, or otherwise acting arrogant or careless.
43. What do they commonly misinterpret because of their own upbringing / environment / biases? How do they respond when realizing the misunderstanding?
he's not necessarily bad with people, but he very much operates on Frontier Rules. the people he's used to dealing with hold to a fairly loose code of honor, in a region where The Law amounts to either indigenous halfling clan rulings, which he respects, or whatever the scattered elf and human settlers can enforce in their encampments, which he respects markedly less.
what this amounts to is that when set loose in a gigantic city, there's just going to be misunderstandings between City Manners and Country Manners. Jack's usually flexible in how he responds to this, but a man's gotta think of his reputation, and hair-trigger danger senses are hard to deactivate.
52. Do they act on their immediate emotions, or do they wait for the facts before acting?
he's a cautious guy! knows very well a situation might not be what it seems like on its face, and has a lot of practice with restraint and patience.
but when the life you're used to leading gives you very, very little warning when someone's gunning for your head, sometimes you can't afford not to react to the only sign you might get. and them wolf passions run hot.
obsessed with finally being able to rp this fuckig cowboy that's been living in my brain rent-free for YEARS NOW and his very first introductory scene is pure organic whump involving a goth in a suit doing minor surgery on him
