Just finished watching Angel Hare and I’d like to share my thoughts!

Overall, I thought it was a really good series. I liked the light horror aspects and the style and the voice acting! I also loved the subversion of christianity being the big bad, if only because I feel like that’s very overdone in horror.

My biggest criticism is that I feel like it gets less interesting as the seasons go on. I was really only hooked on the tapes, whereas the cases were less interesting to me and the discs even moreso. Additionally I feel like the darker themes and mystery that made the first episodes intriguing are dropped after the first season. I wish Jonah and his mother’s backstory were more fleshed out, and it’s definitely what I found the most intriguing throughout the series.

That being said, the series is still super impressive. It takes a LOT of work to make a fully animated webseries, let alone with all the technical tricks the creators were able to pull off. The format reminded me of a more clean, christian version of early-series Marble Hornets, and I mean that as a compliment. I’m excited to see what the creators come up with next, whether it be a continuation of Angel Hare with another season or a new show altogether!
