Once the infant wouldn't stop reaching towards Jack, Arya offered to let him hold her and he couldn't resist. The grin on her face showed she was satisfied as he held her on his hip as he walked to his seat, sitting her in his lap and bouncing her up and down on his knees. "Dude, why are you playing with her baby?" Michael asked as he looked at Jack with creased eyebrows and the most confused look, also earning the attention of quite a few other classmates. Jack only shook his head, giving Arya a nod as she walked out of the room and turned his attention back to the giggling toddler. "You can't seriously be that in love with her. You barely talk to her!" Michael's voice was rather loud, everyone in the classroom turning to look in their direction. "Look, I'm not in love with her, okay? I just saw her at the pumpkin patch Saturday and Austen here just seemed to take a liking to me," Jack explained, a few students laughing and whispering. Does he honestly expect us to believe that? He heard a someone whisper behind him, turning around to face him. "I don't care what you believe." This obviously shut her up, her face turning red as she shrunk back into her seat and Jacked turned around. "You've changed, man." Michael said beside him, but he just brushed him off and continued playing with Austen. Once Arya came back in not much longer later, he was taken aback when Austen screamed; handing over the infant once she came over to retrive her baby. "Okay, just tell me one thing," Michael whispered, leaning on his arms and towards him, Jack sighing as he looked at his best friend. "Are you in love with her?" The question was absurd, causing Jack to roll his eyes and mutter a stern "no". Michael finally backed off, turning to a few of their other friends while Jack played on his phone. He hadn't heard a word or even seen Cassie since Saturday, and he didn't really care. He loved her and all, but sometimes, it just got to be too much for him to handle. Jack wasn't one to let people tell him what to do and control his life, or just sit there and let them yell at him. Once class was finally over, everyone fled the classroom but Jack was slower than he normally was, grabbing his backpack and slinging it onto his shoulder as Arya approached him. As she mentioned the rumors, he only groaned and rolled his eyes. "Blame Michael," was all he could say before giving Austen one last tickle and smile, then walking out and to his car. There was still no sign of Cassie, so Jack took the opportunity to go to Taco Bell before heading home. There was still no sign of anyone as he got home, heading up to his room only to find Evan sitting on his bed. "What are you doing in my room?" Jack asked an annoyed tone, never having been one who liked his sister's boyfriend. Seeing him in his room, alone, just made him want to bash his face in. "Cassie and I broke up, so you shouldn't worry about seeing me for much longer." Hearing that Cassie and Evan broke up completely took him by surprise, turning to look at him with the most confused expression but Evan only just shook his head. "I know you're not one to let people tell you what to do, but just listen to Cassie. Just this once. I haven't once heard her complain about a girl you've been with, but this time she has. And that's because she cares about you, Jack. She doesn't want to see anything bad happen to you." Hearing Evan defend her only pissed him off, turning and giving him one of the worst looks possible. "I don't give a damn. Now leave, before I kick your ass." Evan didn't protest, only nodding his head once and leaving. He closed the door behind him, which to Jack muttered, at least someone wasn't raised in a barn. After he left, Jack finished his homework then went to bed quiet early, just wanting the day to be over with already. The next morning was the same, showering and getting dressed and going to school without any sign of Cassie. He didn't see her all day, as he usually would at least once. It didn't really bother him, walking into eighth period and heading straight to his seat. He really wasn't up for contact with anyone, and he really just wanted to go home and sleep.
