“I think it would be of greater concern were I not scared.” Simon spilled out although immediately regretted it. No, not a bad thing to be scared, but he was dead. Surely nothing could touch him now. But there it was, Simon’s fragile bubble of safety popped and lay in broken pieces around him.

His gaze flicked up to the thing, the real beast perhaps, eyes widening at the sight. Had this been what the other boys had felt when they’d found their beast? Simon didn’t like it. He didn’t like it on bit.
