Saiās been slowly making his way through the city, searching for any sign of the group that had left the police station a few days earlier. As much as he keeps telling himself itās not worth it, that he may neverĀ find them, that maybe he doesnāt really want to, something in him keeps pushing forward.
Itās not just something; itās never been in you to quit. You know that.
The closest heād ever come to just giving up had been after the accident that took Laney and Malie from him. He hadnāt thought it possible to go on without them -- he certainly hadnāt wanted to -- but here he is, not quite living but still functioning.Ā
So demons and hellfire are nothing to him.Ā
He passes his fair share of gruesome sights and creatures as he nears Penn Station, and heās glad for the first time that Malie isnāt here. Heād never want her to see the nightmare that life on Earth has become. Sheās much better off with her mother and the angels, dancing forever in the stars.
Sai is so lost in his thoughts of his daughter that he doesnāt realize heās reached the train station until heās quite literally standing in front of it. Thereās no one around that he can see or hear, but the space is huge. There could be hundreds of people inside, and heād never know it from out here. Still, heās cautious as he enters, steps light and eyes and ears wide open. Heās seen enough horror movies to know that what heās about to do is a Bad Idea, but again, itās the apocalypse. Everythingās different now.
He clears his throat... and then calls out.
āHello? Anybody here?ā
