Jackalope’s Rompo Red Rye Ale on tap at Hattie B’s in Las Vegas. A 2 of 4. Smells of some pine/herbal hop notes, some clear rye spiciness, and caramel malt. Much the same in the body with the malt dominant up front and less rye spiciness than the nose. Finishes dry without a ton of bitterness.

This nicely hopped pils from JBC in Nashville did a good job to cut the slightly too greasy Papa Murphy’s pizza. WTF Pappa? 

I brought this can of Czech/German style beer back from America’s Country Music Capitol nearly two years ago.  I think of the Jackalope as a Texas thing and when I checked on the significance of “Seven Cities” I got Urban Dictionary hits for the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, an area I love well, and references to mythical places in literature, video games, and even a 1999 song.

So naturally, I poured it into a glass shaped like a can, sporting robotic figures celebrating the 5th anniversary of Tin Man Brewing, which no longer exists as a separate entity, having been bought out by Fall City Brewing which until recently, brewed its beer under contract in Nashville, TN.
