People use words like ignorant and naive as slurs, but we’re all born knowing nothing and unless someone tells us right from wrong it’s a long, painful cycle of “fuck around and find out” to learn for ourselves.
Pizza toast fresh out the oven.
The marinara sauce is made with tomatoes, peppers, chillies, garlic and basil.
The cheese is mozzarella and mature cheddar.
The topping is fried chicken breadcrumbs hidden under the cheese.
You cannot comprehend the flavours
Living with long covid is different for everyone it effects, but for me the worst part, the part that is the most difficult to live with is waking up every day in pain. It’s not a lot of pain but it’s that dull ache you get the day after you’ve been to the gym. It’s where every muscle hurts to move so you avoid moving it and every movement you have to do is exhausting.
Your body goes into recovery mode, it’s like, “hey, we need time to recover so don’t do anything” and it’s also like “hey, we yearn, we’re yearning here”. And you’re like, what are you yearning for? And it’s like, “idk energy? Protein? Electrolytes? We’ve definitely done a some hard work yesterday so we must have burnt through our whole supply of everything”.
But it’s a lie, the covid damages the mitochondria in the cells, the energy is there but the engine to burn it is fucked. So all day, every day, I end up waiting for the ache to go while I yearn for something that I can’t get. You just end up craving high energy foods and stimulants.
About me
Ten facts about me that sound made up but are actually true.
I can say “I don’t speak Japanese” in Japanese.
Deep Purple’s guitarist, Steve Morse, once smacked me in the face with a handful of guitar picks.
I’m mixed race, my mother was white and my father was a taxi driver.
I can say Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch and had a friend who lived there.
I once drunk sexted with the managing director of Burberry.
My mother’s name was Barbie and she was once one of the booth girls at the British motor show.
My high school chemistry teacher was the scientist from the Coldplay song The Scientist.
I have been dead for ten minutes after I drowned on a trip to the beach and had to be resuscitated by my dad who was a former army medical nurse.
I once had to be rescued from a parody sex party by the person being parodied. (This is tangentially related to sexting with the managing director of Burberry)
I am immune to electricity up to 240 volts AC.
Pasta, caramelised onions, strong cheese and a tin of creamed chicken.
It tasted better than it looks
As a reward to myself for cleaning the kitchen I have decided to mess it up again by baking.
Learning how to bake bread wasn’t going too well so pivoted to making pizza bases.
Made the tomato sauce from tinned tomatoes, caramelised onions, basil and seasoning then topped the pizza with mozzarella and cheddar.
Not bad for a first attempt but I already have a second pizza base ready that’s turned out lighter and fluffier
People have been circulating this and it reminds me of my mum. I got my love of cars and mechanics mostly from her, back when she was a teenager in the 1960s she worked for reliant, a British car company mostly known for making the Robin but they also made a sports car called the scimitar.
So when my mum was 17, she was one of the girls showing off the scimitar (a 1960s British sports car) at the British motor-show. But at the time she didn’t have her driver’s license and had a string of boyfriends with motorcycles who she relied on for transport to anywhere she couldn’t walk to. She would tell me that how none of them knew how to maintain or service their bikes and whenever they inevitably broke down somewhere she was the one who ended up fixing them.
This was 60 years ago, the “future” people are worried about is a past and reality that they’re trying to deny.
