Brokeback Mountain headcanons because these gay cowboys are rotting my brain

Ennis keeps a drawer of every postcard Jack ever sent him. The drawer is right next to the jacket.

Sometimes, Ennis takes Jack’s jacket, wraps it around his shoulders, lays down on his bed, and just.. sobs. He clutches onto Jack’s jacket and just sobs. Sobs like a baby until he falls asleep. (its usually on Jack's birthday, but sometimes its just when he misses him, which is often)

I feel like Junior figured it out on her own. Like, she was visiting Ennis when Ennis had to go get something from the store so he left. She was waiting for him when she saw the sleeve of Ennis’ shirt peeking out the door. Curiosity got her and she went up to go look. She saw Jack’s jacket on the inside and the postcard of Brokeback Mountain pinned next to it. Then she found the postcard drawer I mentioned. And she just sort of put it together. She didn’t mention it to Ennis when he got back. She told Jenny about it but made her keep it a secret. I feel like she wouldn’t be upset about it, but she WOULD be upset that her dad had someone he loved that is no longer alive. I don’t feel like Bobby would ever know though

I already posted my headcanon that Ennis can no longer listen to certain songs without sobbing due to thinking of Jack, but that happens with lots of stuff. Ennis finds some way to associate anything with Jack, gets sad about it, and then cries when he gets home

When they’d have to say goodbye after their Brokeback meetups, it would always take a while for Jack to let go of Ennis when hugging him.

There is no way Ennis wasn’t the little spoon. He feels like the safest place in the world is, unfortunately, Jack’s arms.

Sometimes, Jack would play with Ennis’ hair while they cuddled and it always made Ennis feel sleepy. He always fell asleep in Jack's arms when they were cuddling

Ennis doesn't even like mentioning Brokeback Mountain anymore. He won't even says its name. When he talks about it in conversation he refers to it as "that mountain me an' a buddy was herdin' sheep on when I was 19.." and his voice gets a little shaky

I don’t think Ennis ever found love again. Not just because of his internalized homophobia. The very few male lovers he had afterwards, he just kept comparing them to Jack in his mind.
