Delicious and hearty vegan ribs made with jackfruit and vital wheat gluten, perfect for a BBQ feast. The combination of smoky flavors and a savory texture will satisfy both vegans and non-vegans alike.
Ingredients: 2 cans young green jackfruit, drained and rinsed. 1 cup vital wheat gluten. 1/4 cup nutritional yeast. 1 tablespoon smoked paprika. 1 teaspoon garlic powder. 1 teaspoon onion powder. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. 1 cup vegetable broth. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 2 tablespoons tomato paste. 2 tablespoons maple syrup. 1 tablespoon liquid smoke. BBQ sauce for brushing.
Instructions: Set the oven to 350F 175C and heat it up. You can use a fork or your hands to shred the jackfruit in a large mixing bowl. Vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper should all be mixed together in a different bowl. Soy sauce, tomato paste, maple syrup, and liquid smoke should all be mixed together in a small saucepan. On medium heat, mix everything together well. Mix the dry and wet ingredients together until a dough forms. Make sure the shredded jackfruit is spread out evenly in the dough before adding it. Cut the dough into rib-like shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. In an oven that has already been heated, bake for 25 to 30 minutes, turning once halfway through. Grab the ribs from the oven and cover them with lots of your favorite BBQ sauce. After taking the ribs out of the oven, bake them for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until they get a nice crust. Enjoy the vegan jackfruit ribs with extra BBQ sauce.
