are there any alt terms like butch that aren't lesbian exclsuive ?

not all butches are lesbian or sapphic at all. but it's still heavily associated with lesbians, so I see why people might want alternatives. some handy terms exist, such as tomboy and masc (not necessarily masculine), but they aren't quite there yet.

azurgirl and azurenby exist as an alternative to tomboy. stag and tomcat are bi-specific versions of butch and futch. butchcat derived from tomcat and butch. dragon and drake for ace-spec people. flags for bi/pan butch. mech for pan. enbutch was coined for non-binary butches.

notice that it's rare to reference unfemininity without the word masculine. there are always synonyms. macho is nonspecific in English.

Jackhound: denying the expectation that non-binary people shouldn’t be masculine, that non-binary is about achieving androgyny, not being NB whilst choosing to only portray yourself or identify with masculinity or femininity. It’s being ‘masculine’ but challenging that masculinity is linked to being a man.

Neufox: nb version of ‘gender conforming’, since it’s equivalent would be androgynous/genderneutrality. However, it’s also denying gender norms. In the binary world, people are expected to be categorised as either male or female, masculine or feminine. Whilst non-binary people are criticised when they are being only masculine or feminine and told they musn’t “really” be non-binary, they’re also criticised and punished for not following the gender norms and expectations of BEING either masculine or feminine.

Some doodles of a character from a sci-fi universe by myself and @hatepig. Jackhound is a K-10, an artificial genemodded species of canine that's... basically what it says on the tin. A lot of the great qualities of a dog, but sapient and with thumbs! And sometimes; guns! K-10 were initially developed during the Golden Age of Genetic Engineering, both as domestic and working (police, military) varieties, but didn't really become common until after "the end of the world." ... it's a long story. Now, they make up a decent chunk of the population! Jackhound is former paramilitary, and nowadays is something of a bodyguard and courier, taking stuff and people between cities through the wastelands and wildlands. Like 20% of all K-10s, she has a mutation that allows her to smell Angels (I said it was a long story!) which puts her in fairly high demand, when coupled with her training and experience. When she's not guarding trade or research caravans or helping to clear out infestations, she enjoys cute dresses, bright colored clothes (K-10 color vision isn't quite as good as humans, but leagues better than any natural canine), photography, and going to art museums. Jackhound has lived a good life, so far, but K-10s only live so long. She's starting to feel the effects of age undeniably- but she's got a few more jobs in her, yet!

Yes, I am neutral in nature (nin).

Yes, I am a jackhound.

Yes, I will still call myself a non-binary lesbian; why?

Because I still feel like I am allowed that identity that I have been using for weeks. Because I still feel a connection to it. Because it still fits in with how I feel.

So, yes, I do what I want,

Okay never have me attempt to make flags anymore. My attempts are really, really bad. At least when it’s all from scratch with no direction to go with it.
