“i know i’m a monster, but you look at me like i’m a man.” @jackhsons
the words feel oh so familiar, words jasons half convinced he’s almost said to jackson a million times. head tilts gently, gaze soft as it lands on jackson. ❝ you're not a monster. ❞ words are quiet, spoken with such sureness. as if its obvious, as if jackson should know, but in no way chastising him for being unsure. no, this is entirely soft, entirely sweet. there were things about jackson that were - technically - inhuman, but jason would never consider him a monster. no, that was a label he reserved for himself. ❝ not even close. ❞ hand gently reaches up, cupping jackson’s cheek. gaze meets his, direct eye contact made to try to make his point more sincerely. ❝ you, jackson whittemore, are one of the best men i know. ❞
“This is a dog heavy household.” @jackhsons
a pause, looking jackson up and down, mind trying to work through the possibilities here. was that an insult? a comment on werewolves? was it a good thing? he truly couldn't figure it out, so mind goes to the best answer he can form. ❝ i love dogs. ❞
‘ who did this? ’ @jackhsons
head gently tilts away, avoiding both jackson’s gaze and touch. it was just a bruise, he’d survive. a few bruises, actually. perhaps what some may even consider a lot of bruises. but he’s fine, he’ll insist that much. he’s still breathing, still walking around, still free, so he considers it a win. it had been another group of guys from the lab, more of their lackeys sent to bring him back dead or alive. but he’s not the scared little kid that they’d once held captive, he can take care of himself now. maybe someone would eventually find the burnt corpses, but they’d never trace it back to him. he knows they wouldn’t.
but how could he come up with a convincing lie? what would jackson believe? this isn’t exactly everyday damage, this was obviously a big fight. immediate instinct is to say barfight, but considering he’s a few years sober that’s definitely not on the table. the lingering silence is likely a dead giveaway that whatever comes next is a lie, but still he grasps for something. ❝ uh— hu-hunters. ❞ and a stutter to top off the less than believable mannerisms, though the lie itself isn’t that bad. hunters in beacon hills aren’t exactly a rarity. ❝ it’s nothin’. ❞
@jackhsons
it took a while for stiles to trust leaving jason home alone, took even longer for jason to be okay with it, but it had to happen eventually — stiles had a job to do, after all. he still isn’t really comfortable with the idea of people just showing up unexpected, so when there’s a knock on the door he’s hesitant - almost doesn’t answer. stiles hadn’t said anyone was coming over. but he’s brave, or he’s trying to be, so he’ll open the door, spend far too long just staring at the man on the other side. he just stares, then seems to get annoyed when he’s not immediately given all the information he wants. ❝ want stiles ? ❞ an attempt to find out if he wants his dad, not the kindest most social thing he’s ever said. but this guy is tall and intimidating, he’s not about to bust out full sentences.
