New Story: "I'll See You Safely Home"

I've started posting my first canon-deviating Tangled fanfic!

Summary: Rapunzel follows Eugene to his meeting with the Stabbingtons, leading to a confrontation with Gothel. After discovering the truth, Rapunzel returns to the castle with her hair intact and Gothel still at large. To what lengths will Gothel go to get Rapunzel back? Which side will Varian take when the royal family fails to act? And why is the Captain keeping Cassandra out of it all?

I developed the idea for this story a few months ago, while watching the series and obsessing over the movie and stage show. A lot of it was inspired by the question: How would Eugene and Gothel interact if they had more screen time together? But it also will explore other characters and relationships--and of course a lot of New Dream!

I graduated from college a few months ago, with a double major of English and Communications and a concentration in creative writing. That was about as far I could have expected to be from where I was when diagnosed with ADD in the second grade. I could barely fill out a worksheet or write a paragraph without someone helping me along. I was incredibly blessed to have parents and teachers who helped me when I needed it, and gave me the space to be independent when I became more confident in myself. I wrote on my graduation cap a line from “Wrote My Way Out” from Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton Mixtape: “This hurricane in my brain is the burden I bear.” That seemed like an accurate description of the chaos of my mind and how it feels like a burden at times. But I left out the next line, “I can do without,” because ADD is so intertwined in my personality and writing style that I don’t know what I or my work would be like without it.

Do you think Lotor is sincere about wanting to unite planets in the Galra Empire? The season starts with him making a speech about needing to be loyal to each other, and making a big show of forgiving Throk; but it ends with him defying Haggar, stealing from the Empire, and letting undeserved punishment fall on Throk. Is his professed philosophy, so unlike the traditional Galra way that it make some scorn him, just a front? Is he more like the Galra than he seems?

I think that Lotor’s idea of uniting planets under the empire is sincere, but complex. Because Lotor, at this juncture, is a very complicated character.

Actually to really properly answer this question I think I might crank out a full proper character study for Lotor since he’s a fascinating piece of psychology to me.

Sorry, no I haven’t. I’ve had really bad writer’s block with that fic and I still have a lot of research left to do. I was hoping to do it before S3 but then it’s coming out in August instead of September so... never mind not enough time :’) I hope I can finish it one day though because I’ve already written >20k words for it lmao... but there’s like at least 30k left to go uuuuggghhh.

Can one person submit more than one piece?

For the final zine or just example submissions? If for the final zine we only need one piece since there will be many artists contributing. Hope that helps!

Is it okay to release our work in other venues now that the preorders are out, or should we wait until they've actually been printed and distributed?

Hi Jackie,Yes, please wait until the zines have been printed so people can see your work once they purchase a copy. We want to keep the ziners’ art/writing as a surprise since it’s only fair ^^ We’ll let you all know once it’s acceptable to start sharing your work. Hope that’s alright. Thanks for the question!

BIG NEWS: Introducing Hope Swan Jones

I am finally starting to post my stories about Hope Swan Jones!

On Archive Of Our Own, these stories will be grouped as a series titled "Princess, Pirate, Poet: The Life of Hope Swan Jones."

The first story will be "Raising Hope," a short story cycle about Hope's general life and relationships. It starts with Emma and Killian trying to grow their newly formed family. You can read it on FFN or on AO3.

Once Hope has grown up a bit, I'll start posting my multi-chapter fics about some of her bigger adventures!
