unsolicited advice: write a little thank you note to her. or a letter. something small. that just says thank you for the gift and let's feed the ducks soon (arthur, that is, if that's something you do want to do) after life settles a bit more, I'll let you know when we can go. a note/letter is perfect for the recognition that you got what she sent you but it requires little to no energy compared to thanking someone in person or over the phone.

Kopi-Describe an incident where you tried something new
I had Thai food for the first time last week. The problem was that I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ANY OF IT ACTUALLY WAS when I was ordering. So I saw “yellow curry” and thought “That sounds like a reasonable thing to get.” And they asked for which spice level I wanted? I got spice level 2, which was surprisingly good considering my white bread self. Pretty good stuff, would recommend.
