Aw, I dunno, mole rat pups are kinda cute...but then they just grow up to be big mole rats, so...

Babies they’re cute of most things, except birds and humans the babies aren’t lovely, I think.

I’m never gonna cut it short again.”

What’s this?

“That’s my star cap,” Holly glanced down at the Sunset Sarsaparilla cap that hung around her neck. Hanging on the leather strap beside it was a small, and very tarnished key, which was less remarkable and didn’t really need explanation. She generally kept them under her clothes, where no one could see them, but every now and then – usually when she was working – they’d come loose.

There was no real value to either object. Unless you were one of the Star Cap hunters who thought finding them would somehow lead to some big fancy treasure, but those folks were mostly out west. Still, it was precious to her, and she preferred to keep it hidden.

“It’s s’posed to be good luck,” she shrugged, now tucking it back under the collar her shirt, “Least, that’s what my friend used to say. Ain’t sure it’s true, but I reckon it don’t hurt to wear it anyways.”
