@jack-snowflake-frost :
Jack turned his head, feigning indifference, but there was a hidden smile on his lips. “You’re definitely Samhain; cautious as ever, even as a kid.” Jack murmured, amusement thick in his tone.
If the little looks between himself and the frost creation were anything to go by, it would take a while to gain his trust. It would take then a while to get Sammy home then too. He sighed.
The cat, which had been rubbing its cheek against Sammy finger with a faint purr, ran a few laps around the boy before morphing into a rabbit.
Cautious was right. As enchanted as the boy was by the snow cat-now turned rabbit, his eyes kept darting back to the frost spirit nearby. Sure he seemed friendly enough, but he knew there were trickster spirits capable of fooling and whisking children away before killing them. Or worse, enslaving them. He spoke a different tongue though, that much Sam knew.
The white-haired boy was looking away now but Sam kept a close eye on him. He reminded him of the older boys he knew back in the village. Tall, lanky, confident; but he had never seen eyes as blue as his. And there was something about the way the spirit looked at him, as if he’d seen him before or at the very least recognized him. Maybe he’d been keeping an eye on him from a distance? Did he then only make himself known when Sam was alone and vulnerable?
<Do you know me..?> Sam spoke again in Gaelic, though he wasn’t expecting a reply. He was just thinking aloud, watching the snow rabbit dance in his palm.
