“Hey Dr. Clef…? I might sound really stupid here but since you’re the one with the gun can you check under my bed…? Uh. You know, since Able is still on the loose and all and I thought I heard something when I went in there earlier and he does know which dorm room is mine. Um anyways can you just check real quick?”
-Jr. Researcher Jackson Starrelle, who totally could have just asked Dr. Angela Starrelle to check instead
(his ass does not want to ask his mom to check under his bed for him)
For fucks sake, what are you? 5?
Sure. Whatever. Because Able's totally gonna be under yer fuckin' bed...
SCP Doctors’ reactions to teenage Jackson asking for homework help: Pt. 2, Dr. Thana Graves
Jackson rested his head on the table, wondering why the fuck he decided to take anatomy, of all the possible electives he could have chosen. It’s all just a mess of parts and fancy names that make next to no sense to him.
He glances back up at the image on his laptop, then at the blank assignment in front of him. How does the teacher expect them to ID all these parts when the only stuff they’ve seen so far has been diagrams… everything looks so different when it’s real and separated from the rest of the stuff…
“What the hell even is thaattt…” He groans, beyond frustrated. It’s a vertebra, obviously, but ‘a vertabra’ isn’t an option. The question is which kind of vertebra. He sighs, sitting upright and looking around the room, deciding that people watching (spying on his mother’s colleagues) is better than doing nothing. Mostly just reading people’s nametags and patches and mayyybee a liitle bit of eavesdropping.
As his eyes slowly move around the room, he notices a really pale woman hanging out across the room. Like, super pale. She’s gotta be like, a zombie or a goth or something. He starts trying to read what her shirt says, since he knows it’s supposed to be writing, probably the name of a band or something, but it doesn’t make any sense. He gives up on trying to read her shirt, and briefly scans over the words on her ID card. Dr. Thana Graves. Site Mortuary Staff. There’s a morgue here? Well… that makes sense, it’s a research institution, they’ve probably got cadavers or whatever. He glances back at it, reading it slower this time. Mortuary staff means she does stuff with dead bodies, right?
“Uh- hey, um, you’re like, a morgue… person… right? Can you give me a hand with my, uh, vertebra… my assignment. For anatomy class. I can’t tell what kind of vertebra this… is.” He points at the image on his laptop.
Thana pulls up a chair and hits the increase brightness button on his computer, maybe three or four quick taps. She studies it for a second, before starting to point things out, “See those two little holes? Those are the Transverse Foraminia. Only Cervical Vertebrae have ‘em.” She jabs a pale, almost blue-grey finger at the screen.
“But what about the Bifid-” Thana interrupts before he can finish the question.
“Only C1-C6 have a Bifid Spinal Process. That’s C7.” She says, “It looks different than the rest of them, but it’s still a Cervical Vertebra.”
“… Uh-huh…” Jackson wasn’t really listening though. He was more focused on staring at the fat fucking spider on Thana’s shoulder. “… What’s your shirt say?” He asks, trying to ignore how the spider has now crawled down her arm onto the table.
“Chat Pile. It’s a band.” She replies, glancing up at the clock before picking George up off the table and putting him in her pocket. She really just spent the last couple minutes of her break explaining the C7 vertebra to some random kid she doesn’t know.
Thana Graves and George (the spider) belong to @drgravessmorgue! Let me know if I did her character justice, I tried to look at your blog posts and also the things you’ve posted in the scp rp community thingy, but I don’t know how accurate I got it to how she would actually behave in that situation.
Also I’ve never taken anatomy (even though I probably should) so forgive any inaccuracies there lol. (I don’t actually know what I’m doing with the big fancy words. Like at all. Lots of googling things) (also idk if all those are proper nouns so I capitalized them out of respect)
“Uh. Hey. The… ‘not a werewolf’ person told me I had to talk to you. Um. Yeah that was like two days ago. I didn’t really get a chance to follow up.”
-Jr. Researcher Starrelle, who “Didn’t get a chance to follow up” (He was putting it off because he didn’t want to have this conversation especially after ditching last time)
Yes, yes. You can't just run away from your therapy, Jackson... I digress. Come along, it's nice and clean and fresh this time. Would you like the sofa? Standing? Normal chair? I have some things to fidget with if it helps and I have snacks if you're hungry. Whatever will help you be most comfortable to talk, of course.
I love rebooting my characters after the worst of what I hate never saw the light of day.
He needs it. Also sorry to anyone who was interested in the comic, if you see this, because yeah that computer and all those images are gone now. (You didn’t miss much though.)
Just a little picture, start of the reboot. I think mainly what I’m changing will be lore because… me three years ago makes present day me cringe a little bit because… yeah.
a couple years ago, I was going to make a comic revolving around him, but that died with my old laptop (can’t access any of it anymore) and honestly that might have been a good thing, because it was bad. I feel like I wrote the character around my angst and then tweaked it so I could pretend it wasn’t my angst. I should have been writing around the character, not making the character fit the scene.
Changes to lore:
Researcher mom. She’s not dead (she was going to be dead in the comic) They get along. (The old thing with his mom was again, writing him around a storyline and I just don’t like it anymore. Yes, my mom is fine, to clarify. I was just way overly angsty back then)
Not the oldest child anymore (I’m sorry to all the older siblings out there, but I didn’t even remember I wrote that until I checked and realized that I need to update him if I want to not let him fade into oblivion like the rest of my old OCs. Like, it wasn’t even like that in the comic kind of I forgot, and that was from the same year I made him)
Not calling him Jax anymore (just doesn’t feel right, maybe out of character I might, but within the little cannon I have for him probably nobody calls him that.)
Things staying the same:
Still scared of bugs (I want to torment him)
Still likes orange
Same age, same job (Jr. Researcher)
still likes orange (maybe not at work though, because the specific color I used in the original design was giving D-Class)
*It’s Jr. Researcher Starrelle being chased by a very, very, very big spider.*
-Jr. Researcher Starrelle, who does not like bugs.
That explains it.
Clef picks up the spider as it chases Starrelle, not phased at all.
Hey li'l buddy. Come along wit' me. Y'ain't supposed to be indoors, are ya? Damn, looks like a goliath bird-eater. Bigger than average. Fuckin' hell, why're ya here?
finishing redoing perspective and anatomy sketches for panels, very much a wip, but I haven’t given up on this thingy. lots to fix up, but I can do this! Not my first comic, but my longest and the only digital one
