jack having a hard time going against fontaine in any way, like a physically painful hard time. his heart feels like it'll beat right out of his chest and break all his ribs on the way out. sometimes his lungs and eyes burn at the thought of it, like he's already been crying for hours. it makes him feel sick and dizzy and worthless somewhere deep inside him

he never would have been able to do that final fight without all the bells and whistles taken out of his head. it very well might have killed him to kill fontaine without being set free from him first
