Friday: 11 am: Avoiding Cultural Appropriation: Michelle Brown, Keoa NeSmith, Lalo Alcaraz, Johnnie Jae An insightful panel that will discuss how to avoid cultural appropriation in popular media and how to work toward supporting authentic and dynamic representations of Native and Indigenous peoples. 2 pm: Podcasting 101: NAC Staff, Jack Malstrom Some podcasts are good, some are not. Be one of the good ones as you learn the basics of what makes a good podcast in this workshop. ----------------------------- Saturday: 10 am: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse: Rez Style: Johnnie Jae, Jack Malstrom Back by popular demand! You loved the panel last year and this year we are bringing back how to survive the Zombie apocalypse on the Rez, this time with instructions. You also will have the chance to create your own Zombie killer in our maker space. 4 pm: Native Sci Fi and Indigenous Futurisms: Daniel Wilson, Elizabeth LaPensee, Johnnie Jae Science fiction and Indigenous futurisms point the way forward by pointing to our long history of overcoming the apocalypse. This panel will feature discussions on Native science fiction and how it plays an important part in understanding Native and Indigenous identity through the use of the genre.
