leaves him a carefully curated box of “useful” items. a few grenades, a claymore, handgun, some werther’s originals, a sprinkling of ammunition as filler, and a lemon poppyseed cake slice from an mre. “happy birthday” is scrawled somewhere on a piece of paper wedged between the cake and the handgun.

paul   doesn’t   begin   to   try   to   understand   the   way   that   jacob   does   things   .   they   are   two   completely   different   people   with   extreme   differences   in   how   they   view   the   world   .   jacob   has   a   proclivity   for   violence   while   paul   would   rather   never   have   to   pick   up   a   weapon   at   all   .   it   isn’t   who   he   is   .   

birthdays   aren’t   something   he’s   ever   celebrated   much   in   all   his   years   ,   most   of   it   spent   in   orphanages   and   couches   of   people   that   gracefully   accepted   him   into   their   homes   .   truthfully   ,   paul   isn’t   sure   what   to   expect   but   the   box   that   is   sitting   in   front   of   him   certainly   isn’t   it   .   

instantly   ,   he   knows   this   has   come   from   jacob   ,   but   the   intent   makes   him   smile   and   a   scoff   .      he   has   to   put   in   a   dig   of   continually   expecting   more   out   of   his   younger   brother   than   he   is   capable   .   it   is   the   thought   that   counts   right   ??      all   of   the   weapons   go   untouched   as   do   the   explosives   that   he   will   undoubtedly   kill   himself   with   since   he   doesn’t   really   know   how   to   use   any   of   this   .   he’d   rather   not   .   carefully   ,   the   apostle   retrieves   the   candy   and   the   piece   of   cake   and   huffs   while   shaking   his   head   .      regardless   of   content   ,   paul   will   ensure   to   thank   him   for   the   gesture   even   if   it   is   a   little   midguided.   / /  @sacrifought
