Jacob Watts
“My head is an animal, it paws and it grips at the bars of it’s cage, leaving the streams of my thought shredded to ribbons.”
17 Years Old ❖ Ketlar ❖ Fourth Year Legacy ❖ Junior
History:
Midas never had a right to grow tired of gold. Atlas should have tossed up the world and given it a shake. If Jacob had been Achilles he’d of advertised his ability to remain unscathed— he’d of seized every diem; he’d of mixed every mythological reference until his head went dizzy from the effort. His mother raised him as a prince, he grew up in a small little town, (it’s hard to find manors in the busier parts of the UK) his father’s speech about the boy’s property being everything within sight would have rivalled Mufasa’s. They weren’t European by far, perhaps their lineage went back somewhere to the fine streets of London, but the Watts family; and their wealth. originates from the corners of the earth where the oil sits under acres and acres of blowing wheat, thick black gold waiting for the taking.
England was his mother’s idea, she’d taken a liking to the quaint little villages that she frequently flipped past in magazines, so they moved there, having their very American lives shipped with him— the Watts decidedly don’t like change. Jacob grew up in this fashion, strolling through the streets where he grew taller and larger and more arrogant, the pride of his parent’s eyes, the love of no one else’s. It was in his fortune that he grew handsome as well, coming into strong features in good time, becoming a true Gaston of the village. When he discovered the amusement in trouble, he started to cause it, breaking things that locals couldn’t afford to replace, stealing things he could very well afford hundreds of.
A merry bunch of delinquents were what he gathered as friends, his voice crisp and accented to match theirs, though one could never chase the decidedly American influence of his heritage from the cadence of his words. It wasn’t with much mourning that he left them all behind upon his first year of secondary school; they were never very much like him, their worlds too far to understand what his was like. Jacob would be going to Easton, across the ocean in Connecticut, his first day on campus marking his fourth time in America in his entire life. For a boy who has vacationed in all corners of the world, it’s a dazzling new experience, especially in regards to the fact that he’s now found people of his own stock— who have surprised him in the way that he doesn’t know how to act around them.
Personality:
He’d scoff if you called him pretentious, though he has the wonderful ability of using all the SAT words whenever he can within conversation; even if they don’t exactly fit there. Jacob likes to chatter, though he’s not the most friendly or open of conversationalists, shifting speech to subjects that he’s often more interested in— himself, or his achievements. Infatuated with the idea of a good time, he’s not often seen without some sort of substance in his hand; a party aid— his voice booms over any event. Attention is something he hungers for, call it the affliction of an only child, he is intoxicated and insufferable when it comes to having fun. Some would call him spoiled, though his personality has changed come his arrival at Easton. No longer can he brush off laughter and accusations with the gruff declaration that he just isn’t understood by others; all of these students are just like him— it’s terrifying and interesting to be immersed in.
Aspirations:
Jacob doesn’t want anything less than the entire world dished onto his palm for him to curl his fingers around and keep close. He is hungry for success, for amusement, for difference but nothing at all. His desires change with the moment and the boy is as fickle as the wind, he has never been known to stand still long enough to come up with a solid answer for simple questions. Easton is one step in the direction towards his future, further than that, he is unaware of what it is he truly aspires towards.
