It’s been a long time since I last posted anything on here.
I’m currently in the throes of graduate school right now. I’m moving away to be a creator for hire (since that didn’t really pan out) to being a creator for myself (which seems to be the only way to have a career in anything these days). THe picture above is a flyer a volunteered to design for the Association of Moving Image Archivists’ Student Chapter at NYU. To give a little context: I’m at New York University in their MIAP program (Moving Image Archiving and Preservation). Primarily, it deals with moving image collections, both analog and digital. I’m enjoying what I learn, and I love the people I’m surrounded by.
Anyway, I volunteered to do this flyer for AMIA’s student chapter. A former alum of my program, Laurie Duke, who works at the Grey Art Gallery at NYU, pitched in and helped with reformatting the type to make it look nicer. It really adds a touch of class to the whole thing.
This is probably going to be the last post I make on this Tumblr. I haven’t been on it very much, and between my studies and all that crap with the whole Steven Universe fandom on here, I think it’s time for me to pull up my roots here. When I interned at Democracy Now! over the summer, my supervisor said at the end of it, “This is kindergarten compared to what you’ll be learning at NYU.” I feel the same way about being her on Tumblr. It was a nice way to get my feet wet with an internet presence, but it’s time to go.
