Despite their avoidance of any public display of affection, Jack and Jackie had moments where it was impossible to ignore the love and cherish they shared for each other. Jack was always attentive to his wife and proud of her, and so was Jackie. Although their marriage wasn't perfect and they had flaws and made mistakes, but they still loved each other in their own ways.

"Faced with the looming prospect of widowhood at twenty-five, Jackie surprised everyone by swinging into action. While he lay in a coma, she squeezed his hand and read poetry to him. Once he regained consciousness, she spoonfed him, helped him with his robe, plumped his pillows, summoned nurses when he needed pain medication, smuggled in the candy to which he had long been addicted, played their usual parlor games, and brought friends in to visit." - Christopher Andersen, 'Jack and Jackie: Portrait of an American Marriage'
