RICHARD ARMITAGE in THE STRANGER (2020) 12 106

Adam gave Corinne’s passport to the police constable who had brought him home, then went over to neighbour Vicky Hoy’s house to collect Ryan. Thomas was there too, and Vicky kindly asked if he’d like to stay for dinner. He hesitated but the boys were already at the table so it seemed rude to refuse, and accepted with gratitude. 

Back at their house after dinner, Adam tried to reorient on some semblance of normality with his sons. Though it was late, Thomas wanted to talk to him, and with everything that’s happened, Adam felt he should listen. He asked if his mum had gone off with someone, taking Adam so completely by surprise he immediately denied it. Thomas tried to reason it out as a teen with little experience, but Adam made sure he knew an affair was a NO. Corinne would NOT do that.

Friends of the Main Cast: Jade Harrison

Jade is the daughter of Brock and Lucy. She looks more like her mother but she mostly acts more like her father. Jade is level headed, smart and caring towards her friends and her Pokemon, often acting like a big sister similar to how Brock acted towards Ash, Misty, May, Max and Dawn when he traveled with them. She’s always carrying things such as first aid for Pokemon and humans whenever she goes to hang out with the others. Much like her father, she’s very good at cooking, cleaning and sewing and as such she often races with her father to see who can do chores the fastest and each time Brock wins their races. She has no interest in becoming a Frontier Brain, like her mother, but she does want to be a Pokemon Breeder like Brock was before he became a doctor. Jade has a soft spot for serpent-like Pokemon much like her mother, as such she has Pokemon with that body type. The only exception is Larvitar. 

Her main colors are brown, pink and white. Pink represents her caring and nurturing nature that she has to her Pokemon as well as to her friends. It does represent how she wishes to find love one day, as well as she’s calming and sweet to those around, she also seeks appreciation, respect, and admiration and is always happy just to be told ‘thank you’ by anyone around her.  Her shades would be Rose pink, which represents her maturity, salmon pink which represents how she can be a bit of a flirt, but a timid flirt and fuchsia which represents a more responsible and controlled nurturer. Brown represents how she’s friendly and approachable, as well trustworthy, loyal and dependable. She also has a bit of elegance in her, which is heightened by the color brown. Jade is also the first to make a Pokemon feel comforted and safe when she’s nearby. She’s also protective of those around her. Her shades would be light brown which represents how she’s friendly, approachable, sincere, honest and genuine and ivory which is calming, encouraging and has a bit of sophistication to it. With white, she’s always self-sufficient and is very efficient as she is organized for everything, but she’s also cautious and can be critical at times.

Dragonair- Jade had received Dragonair as an egg by Brock on her tenth birthday. Jade took great of the egg and made sure it was in a safe environment to get ready to hatch. Soon the egg hatched into a Dratini, much to Jade’s surprise and joy. She would later take care of her Dratini and occasionally train her, she soon evolved after her hard work and training. As a Dratini, Dragonair was a quiet Pokemon that didn’t do much aside from training and getting groomed by her trainer. When she evolved, she became more regal and started carrying herself with grace and sophistication and refused to let anyone see her as anything as such. She has a temper when she’s been touched by someone other than Jade or anyone she deems worthy of approaching her, it’s probably worse in a battle especially if she’s facing against another Dragonair in a battle. She’s Jade’s strongest Pokemon and never disobeys Jade even if she’s angry. Dragonair refuses to evolve into Dragonite and she gets along with Ashley’s Kirlia and Chetari’s Tsareena.

Moves are Outrage, Hyper Beam, Safeguard, Dragon Rush, Rain Dance, Thunder, Iron Tail, Dragon Dance, Aqua Tail, and Draco Meteor.

Drampa- Jade was wandering around a mountain area one day when she was younger and soon met up with a Drampa. The two of them got along and played with each other, soon it was time for Jade to go home and Drampa gave her a ride home on his back. After a while, Jade wondered if that Drampa remembered her and went to the mountains to find him again. She was in the area where she met him and wondered if he really did remember her, soon she wasn’t paying attention to where she was walking and ended up falling off a cliff. Thankfully she was saved by the Drampa she befriended when she was little. After thanking him she asked if he wanted to join her, he happily agreed by nuzzling her cheek. Drampa is a friendly and approachable Pokemon. He enjoys being near kids, as such he’s considered a favorite by Sachihiro, Sachi, Natsuko and Katri with how friendly he is. Because of his deep bond with Jade, he is often the first to protect her from anyone who even thinks about harming her.

Ability is Berserk.

Moves are Extrasensory, Dragon Pulse, Hyper Voice, Calm Mind, Flamethrower, Return, Hurricane, Rain Dance, Razor Wind, and Steel Wing.

Arbok- Jade was given Arbok by her mother when Arbok was an Ekans. As an Ekans, he was an aggressive Pokemon that would try to pounce on bird Pokemon in an attempt to eat them. He would fail and Jade was doing her best to get him to calm down, which so far would involve petting him and feeding him Poke beans. He soon evolved into an Arbok while training. Now he toned down his aggression and ended up relaxing when training wasn’t in session, as such he would often lay on Jade’s lap or curl around her when he wanted to sleep. When he does battle he can be pretty brutal, which is why Jade always carries a Soothe Bell to calm him down should he get too aggressive.

Ability is Intimidate.

Moves are Crunch, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang, Fire Fang, Gunk Shot, Brutal Swing, Stockpile, Swallow, Spit Up and Poison Jab.

Serperior- Jade received her Serperior when she was a Snivy. She had a habit of abandoning trainers back when she was still a starter Pokemon, as such Professor Juniper gave her to Jade in hopes that she would do better as a breeder’s Pokemon instead of as a trainer’s Pokemon. Snivy hated getting dirty, which is why she disliked being with trainers as they make her dirty after battling. She greatly appreciated Jade as she was always grooming her and letting her absorb sunlight when she needed it. She soon evolved into Servine and lost her obsession for being clean at all time, she started taking part in more training sessions as well as being shown off for Breeding competitions. She soon evolved into Serperior after all of Jade’s hard work grooming and training with her. Now Serperior is a serious and regal Pokemon, if she’s sent into a battle she will give it her all if her opponent isn’t fazed by her glare. She has a small affectionate side and will show it by nuzzling Jade for a little bit, she also has a sweet tooth and will sometimes enjoy eating a Pokepuff once in a while.

Ability is Overgrow.

Moves are Leaf Storm, Leaf Blade, Giga Drain, Calm Mind, Nature Power, Swords Dance, Mirror Coat, Grassy Terrain, Frenzy Plant and Aqua Tail.

Shellos- Jade caught a West Sea Shellos while she was grooming her Pokemon by a lake, a stray Shellos came up to her and wanted to be groomed too. Jade didn’t mind and started grooming Shellos and Shellos enjoyed herself. When Jade was done she didn’t want the breeder to leave, so she joined her team. Shellos is a bit of a glutton as she’s always hungry and always eating, it doesn’t help that Jade is great at making Pokemon food much like her father. Shellos is also very affectionate and always nuzzles against Jade’s leg. She’s probably one of the weaker members of the team, but she doesn’t mind as she wasn’t a big battler either way. She was more interested in being part of the breeding competitions that would be held in random towns.

Moves are Mud Sport, Water Pulse, Mud Bomb, Ice Beam, Infestation, Scald, Counter, Mirror Coat, Stockpile, and Swallow.

Larvitar- Jade was given Larvitar by a Daycare couple seeing as Larvitar wasn’t getting along with the other Pokemon and Jade decided she could take care of him. She did get Larvitar to open up to her, but only her as he would hide behind her or use Sandstorm or Screech to get someone away from him. Larvitar is clingy and often very afraid of being near anyone that isn’t Jade, he only really opened up a little to Ashley, Salvia, Grey, and Magnolia for some reason. While Larvitar is afraid of others he still will make an attempt to protect Jade whenever he feels like she’s in danger, most of the time she isn’t in danger when he tries to protect her but Jade praises him for being brave.

Moves are Sandstorm, Bite, Leer, Screech, Hidden Power (Ice), Rock Tomb, Dig, Brick Break, Iron Defense and Dragon Dance.

I enjoyed S2 of Beyond Paradise even more than I did S1. The writers seemed to have a better handle on the show in its sophomore season regarding stories and character directions / development. 🧑🏻‍💻 🎞️

Looking forward to S3 in 2025.

RICHARD ARMITAGE in THE STRANGER (2020) 09 102

When Adam asked Martin Killane for his help in finding Suzanne Hope, the woman who gave Corrine her fake pregnancy idea, he had no idea Martin had been freelancing finding missing people and working on cold cases all along. For a second he toyed with telling Martin about Corrine when Martin handed him Suzanne’s address, but decided against it. When Ryan interrupted Adam with a call, he hadn’t heard from his mum. Adam had to leave for home because Ryan was locked out of the house. He wanted to pursue Suzanne Hope ASAP anyway.

Arriving back home, Adam saw Vicky’s car stopped in the street. She saw him, came over and showed him the text from Corrine, since he’d not heard from her and Vicky didn’t want him to think she was hiding something. Another text unlike Corrine’s usual effusiveness: “Won’t be in.” Adam decided to ask Vicky to elaborate on her statement that she knew he and Corrine had been having “issues”. She said Corrine had been tense these last few weeks. “Stressed, like you look now. Have you called the police?” Adam wasn’t sure what he’d tell them. Corrine did send a message. He didn’t want to tell Vicky why she sent it, changed the subject to Vicky’s daughter’s problem. Vicky offered her support, and Adam appreciated that. Doug Tripp saw them hugging, played it off with his particular sense of humour.
