The release celebration for Lestat’s self titled album pulsed with life. The air is thick with anticipation and the champagne is being given out as if it was water. MTV screens are looping Lestat’s latest music videos to the crowd with a golden glare that was bouncing off crystal glasses and designer heels. Industry bigwigs, producers, and an eager swirl of fans filled every corner of the room. The air was buzzing with the promise of the night. Lestat entered with a familiar amused tilt of his chin and every step was a small performance. He allowed himself a private smirk at the thought that his album was complete. It is flawless, and tonight they’d all see it shine. Fans will rush to own a little piece of him.
He drifted along the edges of the stage with his security and entourage as his eyes are flicking over the crowd. The whispers, the stares, and all the recognition… it tickled him. He had them all in the palm of his hand. He has not felt like this since he was on stage. Mortals were deliciously unaware of the depths behind the face they admired. Somewhere in the back of his mind there was a light sly thought about Louis, yes, Louis would find his book, of course he would. He would even buy his album. Smugness curled his lips because all these fans were so easily charmed and yet so delightfully ignorant of the truth.
When the lights shifted Lestat stepped into their golden heat onto a stage. Every movement he made was deliberate and his smile was theatrical. He did not say anything. He picked up his microphone and immediately began singing a verse of the new single. The way he sung it was melodic and teasing. He gave a playful flicker of fingers toward the cameras as they captured him. The crowd leaned forward and the energy of the room was energizing him. They were hungry for more. He gave them exactly what they wanted his charisma, audacity, and a teasing a promise of more to come with the announcement of his upcoming tour and of course today’s album release.
The heat of the stage lights warmed his skin and the camera flashes punctuated his every gesture. He began to sing another song and every note was sung with a perfect but careless flair. Amid the roar of the audience a private thought skipped like a heartbeat Louis is hearing this. There was a teasing thread connecting them. Lestat could feel him in the crowd, watching him. The last song he sang was the song he wrote for Louis. He sung this song with a lot of passion. The game has begun, he thought as he smiled into the microphone. He gave a flirtatious wink to the crowd.
As the last verse ended… the applause hit him like warm silk. Producers clapped loudly their eyes gleaming and fans screamed. The MTV VJ’s invitation to questions floated through the room. Lestat stayed poised as he was lounging with an elegant slant of the hip and a hand lightly brushing the microphone stand. Every inch of him suggested ease, mastery, and the private knowledge that the night had only begun.
A fan asked about the inspiration for his signature style. Lestat answered with wit, indulgence, and a flicker of teasing charm. “Ah, inspiration,” he purred, “is everywhere… if you know how to look you will see it.” Laughter rippled through the room. The mortals relaxed as they were warmed and enchanted by the effortless display of his brilliant performance.
Then someone dared ask, “your lyrics, there’s something timeless about them. Are you inspired by mythology?” Mortals chuckled as they imagined the dark romantic fantasy that was his work. Lestat’s eyes glimmered with mischief. “Ah, mythology,” he replied, “is simply truth seen through poetic lenses.” he said with a wink and a cock of his head. His truth was disguised and safely hidden beneath playful words meant for his fledgling.
As laughter and murmurs spread Lestat watched their reactions with pleasure. They were curiously fascinated and utterly captivated by Lestat. None of them knew a fraction of the reality behind the songs. Another flicker of Louis crossed his thoughts. There was no sentimentality, just amusement, the silent and the acknowledgment of a game played across worlds. His eyes darted quickly around the crowd looking for him briefly.
The applause died down, and the next question was forming when it came over Lestat… it was Louis’ scent. It was faint but unmistakable and it brushed past him like a whispered secret. Only Louis carried that scent it was subtle and impossible to ignore. He knew it as well as his own name. He did not look for him this time because he did not need to. The smile was curling on his lips that was private, predatory, and utterly for Louis alone.
Lestat answered the final question with extra flourish and his sapphire eyes were glinting in the soft stage lights because he knew Louis was near. With a deliberate sway of his hips he stepped off the stage. Each movement he made was a private performance meant to be seen and to be watched by Louis. This was his private invitation to Louis to find him but it was wrapped in public spectacle. The game had indeed begun and Lestat has scored the first point.
“We get along, but I don’t like his ethics pertaining his ‘pupils‘. To give them the Blood, purely to have them yodeling for all eternity rubs me the wrong way.“

My lover is a Libra. Since the moment I met him--despite his slavishly inebriated status at the time--it was plain that he has an appreciation of justice and fairness that borders on obsessive. He cannot tolerate cruelty, pettiness, or passive-aggressive anger--though he is often guilty of all three.
My lover is a Libra. He is an intellectual, an academic who has learned more than I could ever hope to keep up with, even with eternity at our fingertips. His love of literature and philosophy has ever been a thorn in my side--though it did, of course, take us several centuries to get to the bottom of why--and yet there is nothing that warms my heart more than to come home to find him there, alone, a book in his hands and the flame of a candle playing upon his fine features.
My lover is a Libra, and I cannot imagine how difficult it must be, for that devotee of equilibrium and order to spend eternity by my side, forever thrust into a web of chaos that will never, despite his best efforts, find any sort of resolution or cede to his consistent attempts at grounding. And yet he continues to walk beside me, or sleep beside me, or even, in my worst moments, sit on the ground beside me. It is a mystery that I am thankful there is no answer to.
Louis, you are the balm to my soul and the answer to the prayer I didn’t realize I was screaming at the heavens. While I cannot offer you order, and I am not sure I will ever be able to, I can extend to you the invitation to spend an eternity on a road filled with both surprises and pitfalls, but smoothed to some extent by the enormous love I have for you.
Bon anniversaire, mon coeur. May you never stop having them and may you continue to forgive me for insisting upon celebrating them.
Having returned for the week in New York, Nicolas ventured for the usual keeping up with work and attending all that needed to be attended in his line of work, with the dedication of someone who was working for that much coveted promotion. Well, there could have been worse things in life and Nicolas knew that all too well.
Marching outside of the opera house after giving a full string of suggestions since he had practically put through school the director of the establishment, Nicolas found himself on a break and with little else to do besides going through emails and messages on his phone. His attention was soon picked by an immortal signature and Nicolas raised his guard, scouting the perimeter. He grinned realizing who was close by.
Deciding to take those necessary steps, Nicolas found himself in the presence of Louis "Fancy meeting you here. I didn't sense you inside the Hall during the concert" Nicolas began, taking a good look at his younger brother in blood if he had to use the vernacular "Do I make you uncomfortable?" granted many still kept in mind the image of Nicolas, ever so lost in his own madness when before them stood a different creature.
Gray eyes lifted to look upon the face of his dearest fledgling, attempting to read the current look which graced his exquisite face. It was clear his companion was concerned and, it was also clear that it had something to do with his most current proposed exploits. And yet, why the brunette felt the urge to voice such a reminder was beyond his current level of comprehension.
“Louis…” Lestat responded, “I am not doing this for others. I am doing it because I wish to find out for myself what will come of it.”
