I know I’m hella late but I feel like my answer for why bill had so many wives in his cult (although I will admit I have not seen all of the cult stuff yet) is because he just sorta, feels ‘bad’ for wives in shitty relationships, like, when we’re going thought bill’s history with earth in the book of bill, we specifically have a detour for the Salem Witch Trials where bill shows up as a goat to help wives that were witnessing each other either get worked to the bone or basically die to bullshit trials by both giving them access to actual witchcraft and also iirc implied to kill their shitty husbands?

Point is, watsonian wise, I don’t think bill has a bunch of wives in his cult for sexual or hyper specific reasons or the like, I think bill has a bunch of wives in his cult because he basically goes up to them, goes “hey, you shitty relationship is shitty and looks like it sucks, you wanna join the cool club?” and most of them just, do to spice up their lives

"Bill was doing it just to be nice" is somehow the most hilarious possible explanation AND it has plausible textual support.

although pretty clearly from the chapter it didn't go "ladies, do you wanna marry me?" so much as "men, let me marry your wives!" so i don't think he invited them, it sounds like he just sorta ordered them. But still. Doesn't rule out the possibility he was trying to do a favor.

(Delete this if you haven’t finished the season) So are we just not gonna talk about the possibility that Orrin probably tried to talk to Reagan Post Friendwipe, and that Reagan probably got really confused on why someone was trying to talk to her like a friend despite not knowing who he is, and Rand Probably scared off Orrin for good to make sure they didn’t restart their friendship, like that’s might just be me but we never know! the Memory trip about it stopped after the wipe, it’s possible

I imagine Rand had her transferred immediately, so Orrin never got the chance.

But can we just... consider?? That Reagan had repressed all her memories of Bear-o until his first appearance in episode three? So she went from having Bear-o, and Orrin, and Rand... to thinking Rand was the only person who cared about her for god only knows how many years???

Also as a completely random side note, I love all the angst art I’ve been seeing of bill and his mom, I know with you being a very logical by the narrative person, you might come to a different conclusion, but the idea that bill cipher, bill “here’s a bunch of deer teeth” cipher, bill “refuses the near idea that stanly was the one that killed him” cipher (good job predicting that by the way), bill “got immediately drunk at a bar after he lost his connection to ford” cipher, had a genuinely caring mom that, as far as we know, actually believed him and loved him despite his ability to see the 3rd dimension. the idea that he got that genuine loving figure killed.

I just kinda love seeing it, no other way to describe it, watching the public reception of bill slowly go from “ideal tumblr sexyman” that we’ve had for YEARS to, in tumblr words, a poor little meow meow that’s a little fucked up actually, I just find it funny.

I don't think she believed him. Parents who believe their kids are actually seeing something real don't take their kids to eye doctors to stop them from seeing it.

I do think she loved him.

These two facts aren't contradictory. If your young child is hallucinating, he's absolutely convinced his delusions are real, and you love him, then you try to get him the medicine needed to cure his hallucinations, even if he's too young to understand how you're helping him.

She just happened to be wrong about whether Bill was hallucinating.

Currently binging the Goldie Au (Big respect and love by the way, the way you write all the characters feels so close to canon I can hear Alex’s and the crew’s voice whenever I read their dialogue, also the Mabel Ford Portland Chapters hurt my heart in the best way possible) and currently on chapter 21, and despite knowing that it was written pre TBOB, it’s kinda funny to me how you had bill write in Stan’s birthday card that they didn’t hold a grudge, meanwhile the tbob just goes “No, bill very much resents Stan, the moment bill realizes Stanley might be involved in the reason why his plan to get out the theraprism though the reader was starting to fail, he immediately went to insulting him and screaming his name”.

Like it makes sense, the guy did cause his death, it’s just something I found comedic

I'm delighted to inform you that Bill is very much lying about not holding a grudge, because he wants Stan to think he's not important enough to be worth resenting.

As if Bill would forgive the guy that punched him to pieces. 😂

Dang it, Now I’m just thinking of a au or Alternate timeline where after bill did the ritual request and died, he got essentially isekai’d into being the night, and freaking, playing the long con to try and get back to his former glory
