If you do look into One Piece, read the Manga. The anime has horrible pacing and is that way so it doesn't catch up with the Manga.

The best way to experience it is to read the Manga and then check out the parts you want to see animated later.

I do highly recommend the series. Just be aware it has a few problems (Sanji's character being one of them, but like, there are theories that Shonen Jump sabotaged his character growth post timeskip, he is a fascinating character despite that though)

But, yeah, manga first, anime after

You know, I see a lot of talk about how Emmet doesn't know where Ingo is, but like, what if he did? What if they both knew Ingo would be sent to Huisui? Like, someone they knew was like, "Hey I found you guy's ancestor" and they looked at the information that was available and went "... oh shit."

So while they take precautions to try and prevent it, once it happens Emmet is just like, ".... Well. fuck."

And then Emmet is just stuck waiting for his brother to come back

On one hand we could have it so that records clearly state when the protagonist and Ingo go back to their time, so all Emmet has to do is wait

On the other hand, we could have it where records of Ingo just, don't mention anything about him past a certain date. Like, he disappeared one day, and now Emmet is holding his breath on whether or not that means Ingo makes it back home, or if it means he died in those mountains (there could also be a specific date where it is mentioned he just, dissappeared)

you know, I haven't actually seen an angle like this before (of course I could be missing out on something lmk if I am) but I absolutely love this as a general concept... them both finding this out and preparing for the inevitable time when Ingo gets sent to Hisui, Emmet awaiting his return... and imagine if Ingo is presumed to have died in Hisui. so Emmet has him declared legally dead, visits Ingo's grave as often as he can. and then one day Emmet is at Ingo's grave. at first, it's just like any other time he visits, with him setting down flowers and taking a moment to speak with his brother... when all of a sudden hears a voice from behind him: "Emmet." and Emmet quickly turns because that voice... no... he knows that voice, still remembers it like he just heard it yesterday... but... is it...? and in shock and disbelief he whispers back: "Ingo...?"
