wifies is the director of the shatterdome, which basically means he's the Boss of jaeger control center lol
he took one look at avery's scans and was like. ok this guy could be one of our best pilots he has the instinct and the ability, the only thing he's missing is a pilot to compliment him... i have an Idea... and avery was sitting there like '??? why does the director look so excited???'
wifies really hunted derek down from wherever he was chilling and gave him The Speech, even though lowkey it was useless and derek already made up his mind before wifies' dramatic definitely-not-ripped-off 'where would you rather die? here, or in a jaeger?'
the jaeger D3rlord was piloted by derek and another pilot whose name derek can't remember anymore. the 3 is because it was the third of the mark iiis to be created! i don't have a name for the jaeger avery and derek pilot together yet, though.
everyone knows about the mission to seal the breach that failed, but not a lot of people know that there was a survivor. wifies decided on keeping it that way to help preserve derek's right to privacy.
derek doesn't wear contacts in the drive suit, he can't put them on. it doesn't actually matter in the drive suit, his helmet visor is prescription. somehow. don't think too much about it.
