cups Maren's cheeks in her hands, and squishes them tightly together between her palms. "Happy Anniversary!"
"Anniversary?" Her brows knit together as the words sink in. Anniversaries normally held negative connotations for Maren. Dates of accidents, of abandonments, of deaths. But for once in her life, its a good thing. Another year spent with her best friend, another year spent with her wife. "We should get dinner and watch some really bad movies, or something. I'll even let you braid my hair, if you want."
“Don’t tell me you came here alone.”

“Almost always." He joked back. “It’s sort of my nightly ritual. Come here, grab a drink, maybe two if the company’s good, and find my next snack.”
He winked, lips curling into the Damon smirk as he slid onto the barstool beside her, he motioned to the bartender for a glass, fingers drumming against the counter.
His eyes drifted lazily across the bar as he half scanned the crowd, half making sure she noticed how at ease he was here. Then his eyes found hers again with that flicker of mischief that never quite left him.
“What about you?” He asked, fingers wrapping around the bourbon the bartender made for him, “Don’t tell me you came here alone too.” A pause, his tone dropping into that familiar playful drawl. “Or are you stalking me again, Jessie? How scandalous." Damon flashed her a wink, bringing the rim of the glass to his lips.

Damon had been sleep for nearly an hour, just sprawled across Jessie’s couch with one arm hanging off the side, the other tucked under his head. The flicker of the TV still played in the background, some mindless show they’d thrown on after he said he needed something mindless after the shit day he had.
He stirred when the faint touch of fabric brushed his shoulder. A soft weight settled over him and it was warm, smelling faintly like her detergent and whatever candle she had been burningearlier. Damon cracked open one eye, lashes heavy, eyes unfocused but still finding her in the dim light.
“Thank you..” He mumbled, voice low and rough from sleep, the word barely forming before his head sank deeper into the cushion. His fingers twitched like he meant to pull the blanket tighter, but he didn’t make it that far. Within seconds, his breathing evened out again, his lips parting slightly as he slipped right back under with the smallest trace of peace softening the usual sharpness in his face.
❛ fuck, i've missed you. ❜ // @jaessie //
a deep, full bodied kind of sigh comes from armand-- the sound barely restricted even by the press of his lips to jessie's skin. not that he really wants to muffle any of it really. she deserves to hear it, to feel it. to know what she does to him. as if the way he holds her isn't enough, as if the way his lips trail all across her shoulders, down toward her neck doesn't show it. he needs it poured into everything he does, into all he is. he needs to know she can fully comprehend the utter devotion in his being.
hands at her hips move, squeezing, nails catching skin as his hips roll forward in a firm, slow grind and his breath catches with the intensity of all he feels. armand's smile grows and his head comes back up so he might seek her lips, might pour every ounce of that feeling into the way he kisses her-- tongue seeking hers, a more heated moan between them as hips snap forward again, harder this time, pressing her more firmly to the wall he holds her against.
"i missed you too-- so much-- fuck, every part of me ached for you..."
"This place is beautiful."

Nora’s legs dangled off the back of the car, her sneakers brushing against the trunk as she leaned back on her palms. The wide stretch of grass before them rippled like green silk in the wind, the horizon bathed in golden light. A small family of deer grazed in the distance, and it was the kind of quiet scene that made the world feel softer for a while.
When Jessie spoke, Nora turned her head toward her, a smile tugging at her lips. “It is." she agreed softly and then her eyes lingered on Jessie for a moment longer before drifting back to the deer. “I’m glad you like it. Not many people know about this place.”
She drew in a slow breath, the scent of earth and early fall clinging to the air. “This is where I come when I just need to get away.” She admitted, her tone dipping with honesty. “When it gets too loud, or when I just need to remember that peace still exists somewhere.”

Zed looks at her, opens his mouth for a second - as though he's going to speak, explain again, before ultimately just giving a little shake of his head. "It's fine, it doesn't really matter that much." Because well it's true, it really doesn't matter much. In the grand scheme of things. She really probably doesn't need to know all the inner intricacies of football at the end of the day. "Anyways, what about you? What's your thing? Like, what're you passionate about?"
"You really don't like having all your teeth in place, do you?"

Nora gave a little shrug, though it came off more like a wince with the way her shoulder ached. She tilted her head, sniffed once, then pressed the back of her hand to her nose, smearing at the drying blood and leaving a faint streak across her skin. It was messy, but she didn’t care because it beat letting Jessie think she’d been rattled. Her lips tugged into a crooked half smile.
“Yeah, well..” She muttered, voice low but still threaded with that stubborn edge, “I don’t exactly like people walking away thinking I’m weak.” She dropped her hand to her side, balling it into a fist for a second before flexing her fingers out again. Her eyes flicked toward Jessie, daring her to push the point. “So I fight back. I mouth off. Even when it’s stupid. Better that than rolling over and proving them right.”
