The issue introduced Guardian of the Millennium Monarch, Millennium Monarch, Millennium Monarch's attendant, X'Hoss, The Designate (Tarene), and the World of the Designate, created by Dan Jurgens and John Romita Jr. The issue also saw the death of X'Hoss and Tarene's people.
