The Penguins’ interest in bringing back Jaromir Jagr — rendered moot yesterday by the Panthers acquiring him — had all kinds of weird elements. I’m not at liberty to divulge much more than that, but suffice it to say that, in some form, the Penguins sought assurance from Jagr that he’d be fine with returning to Pittsburgh and being reunited with Mario Lemieux. And no, I have no idea what form that could have taken, so don’t ask.

Well that was a brief Jagrwatch...

Jagr is one of the best possession players on the game and could play on the powerplay. He's doing great on a shitty Devils team with a shitty system. He also would bring in a veteran presence, and I think the fact that it is Jagr and he'd be back would be a big push for the guys on the team to win it for him. Whether or not that all would translate into a Cup, you can't tell.

Yeah, and honestly after my last reply I’m officially tapped out on trying to convince myself that I don’t actually want Jagr on this team. Que sera sera to whatever JR does between now and Monday; if he does get Jagr I’m going to be ecstatic, if he doesn’t I’ll go back to praying Jagr re-signs before he retires.
