2. when in canon does your self insert come in? do you have a scene in mind for your entrance?

i previously answered this question and mentioned jaide's inclusion with gold but in here i can absolutely see her being relevant to the ruby/sapphire AND oras story :3 i cant say for r/s yet because i have to reread it AKSLDLKKSS BUT FOR ORAS (its still so fresh in my mind) she's definitely important to the story because zinnia is present. zinnia has done super risky things to both ruby and steven and i can totally imagine jaide having to step up and confront zinnia for bothering her family... she's a usually passive person but she crosses the line if it puts her husband and son in danger.

10. how do the other characters feel about your self insert and f/o’s relationship?

i realized i didn't mention josep.h stone when i answered this previously but i think he's quite happy to see his son finally finding a nice lady. i feel that joseph couldn't see steven as the perfect heir to his business not until he has been partnered with someone because it's like, he's fully understood and matured. and he has a son too. though i feel that joseph would want ruby to follow next in line for the de.von corp stuff but steven respects his son's hobbies and aspirations and would probably not force him to be like. the family stones yk ... if that makes sense! josep.h is polite to jaide, maybe spoils her a bit and recalls embarrassing baby steven memories AKSLFKDJKDD

15. how does your self insert play a role in the plot of the story? do they help directly defeat the villain, support the heroes, etc.?

when they were kids, she supported red and blue's journey to the indigo league! she wasn't entirely present in their journey but red and blue would always make trips back home to palle.t town to share their progress with her (they kinda feast on her compliments they get ego boosted fr) i don't think? she's that aware of tea.m rocket's deeds up until the gen 2 story? since ethan is associated with team ro.cket too and she actually became a trainer from there so she's willing to help!

1. what are the basics of your self insert? name, date of birth, height, etc.?

emerald, or emme for short, then jaide evergreen as you know! their heights tend to be the same for all of my inserts unless said other wise and all of them are 5'2-3 :3 now their birthdays - usually i just assume all of their birthdays to be the same as mine - february 16. but if you REALLY wanna know when they were made exactly, emme was made on november 19, 2022 (WHAT THE HELL) and jaide was made on february 9, 2023... emme is older by 3 months LMFAOOOO

5. does your self insert have any special powers or abilities?

ummm emme can swim to the seafoam islands no life tubes or shit 🙄🙄🙄 i thought you knew that /JJJ JOKES ASIDE i think emme's a pretty brave girl, but she's only brave because she doesn't recognize danger even if she's supposed to by instinct. that's probably why she didn't fear shinto in the first place! i totally see emme to be like ed from ed edd n eddy, she's just a chunk of brick that can't be swayed tbh unless it was glitchy because girlie likes him a bit too much PFPFPTT

jaide is a natural when it come to catching, i would also say she's really smart in reading pokemon psychological behavior (as opposed to jaide STONE. she reads emotions) (jaide studied for it. she was in school for some time unlike red and blue who just jumped straight into battling)

9. who are your self insert’s closest friends?

IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING BUT EMME IS OBVIOUSLY CLOSE WITH THE CARTRIDGE GANG 💥💥 but if we gotta talk about the more canon side, grey is definitely her closest friend - mostly because grey kinda decided to follow her since she was brave enough to handle shinto by herself. i dont think emme has much friends?? (ouch) because she's a bit ... out there and i'd imagine a lot of people are kinda terrified of her but if you actually bother to befriend her she'd like you a whole lot! very compassionate even!

aside from red, blue and leaf (semi canon), jaide interacts with many professors across the region so she'd definitely be close with professor kukui and sonia! many of the professors are a bit too mature for her youthful personality but the aforementioned are totally flexible with anyone 💥 lyra (and kris?) too, thanks to ethan! i can totally see jaide having the most random ass connections just for a comedic bit where someone's like "jaide they know you???" (is probably someone high ranking) and she just winks eheeee yuh huh

EMME IS A RANGER. I'VE CONFIRMED IT, YES. I ONLY REALIZED RECENTLY THAT RANGERS ARE THE PERFECT DESCRIPTION FOR HER. they're almost like a police equivalent and remember how i'd say she's the type to help look for missing 'mons? yuh. we will expand on the ranger concept from here on out now!!!!

i've always imagined jaide if she was in the games - she acted like your rival except she's your sister and she follows ethan around to tip him and give him necessary things (and maybe is the one to deliver whatever their mom buys using ethan's money PFPFPTT) and you'd have those single battles with her and she would continuously grow to be more proud of ethan, and does meet him moments before the elite 4 heheh maybe there's a sequence where they bond at the national park wiwiwiw yk sibling things sibling things... ate jaide on the way.... <333

OHHH WOW OMG THIS IS AN INTERESTING SET OF CHARACTERS!!!

okay, the good thing I can say about this is that jaide has definitely covered so much ground in terms of exploring the regions and she has definitely been to unova (it's her favorite trip so far) so it's not odd to say she wouldn't go to sinnoh as well :33 since this is gameverse jaide, i'll only base all of their attitudes on the actual games and not the manga

okay, cynthia!

jaide isn't really that good at remembering most of the champions and elite 4s because she's not that interested (exception being steven because she fucking loves devon's products HAAGGEGSGDHS) but I do think blue has at least talked about cynthia at some point, having some ounce of respect towards her and appreciating her very competent team. i think she would like cynthia very much! not that I can see why she wouldn't like her, but I think cynthia's talks about pokemon history (and by extention, the creation trio) would get jaide interested into listening :] jaide is the type of person to love reading entries in the pokedex

next, dawn!

sadly I do not know much about her (and im sure she has a whole personality in pokemas that I can go off from). jaide has worked with many professors and if I were to assume that dawn is working under professor rowan, they would get along very well too - dawn introducing the entire sinnoh dex to jaide would get her very excited, and perhaps make a wishlist on the pokemon she'd personally wanna catch (... she wants the fire monkey 💥💥)

lastly, N!

I like this a lot, let's assume the entire BW story had finished already so we won't have to stress over the plot. obviously jaide would be more than intrigued to know that n knows how to read other emotions and feelings of pokemon, and she would NOT hesitate to bring out her entire team and ask what are they feeling 😭 it's easy to answer if jaide likes him, but does n like her? it probably will take time for him because she's... a bit too energetic for his liking but he does appreciate how she finds his ability to read emotions - a unique and beautiful thing - she's a nice person in his book! just... gotta adjust to her overwhelming energy 😭

ethan thoughts ethan thoughts + jaide dyanmics

so in my version, I see Ethan to be a very soft and gentle kid thanks to Jaide's care for him but he's probably a lot more rational and wiser than Jaide. That's not to say Jaide's dimwitted, but between the two - you can tell Ethan would be strategically smarter in a battle than Jaide would be. They balance each other out. If she's the Catcher, he's the Trainer. That's why Ethan was able to win against Red years ago.

Now this got me wondering how a much older Ethan would do, aka in the time where Appleshipping is happening and all the HGSS events has already transpired. But I first do wanna share a HC team that I think he'd be using:

a lot of these 'mons are based on canon material

Typhlosion - obvious reasons, Cyndaquil always assigned to Ethan like how Lyra is to Chikorita and Silver to Totodile. (also accurate to manga!)

Togekiss - also another obvious reason, since Professor Elm gives Ethan a Togepi egg early in the game and it would eventually evolve into a Togekiss if Ethan were to maximize his 'mon's full potential

Gyrados - ANOTHER obvious reason, the whole Shiny Gyrados event happened and who in the world would not catch a free Shiny? (Jaide would be so proud!)

Umbreon - Personal choice of mine, if Red (in my canon) has an Espeon, then I think it would be a cool contrast that Ethan gets an Umbreon. Plus, they both have yellow and black as dominant colors in their design.

Ampharos - It's a popular Pokemon that everyone catches, and it's a neat contrast to Red's Pikachu as well. Also another yellow + black combo. One of the first pokemon that Jaide learned to be comfortable with, due to her fear with electric types.

Scizor - Also another popular Pokemon at the time, but for personal HC; Lyra and Ethan went on a Bug-Catching Contest together, only for her to get a Scyther that he would like to trade for - so she did, and also dropped a Metal Coat while trading so that it would turn into a Scizor. She's just that nice.

yes, I'm super aware that would mean Jaide and Ethan has a Togepi line together and YES Ethan's Togekiss is fond of Jaide's Togepi,,,

In the present time (Gen 7), I like to think that Ethan's holding his title as Champion in Johto but he also bounces around doing other things as a Trainer. He's friends with Lyra and Silver, and hangs around with them a lot. He would perhaps be 20-23 at this point in time. He never really has gone out to other regions apart from Kanto, which he occasionally visits from time to time + it's much more easier to go there thanks to Goldenrod City's train quick travel. He still stays with his mom, just to keep her company but he's very active to outside whenever he can.

Ethan and Jaide don't really see each other as much anymore due to their preferred professions being very different, along with Jaide's relationship with Red - but they still keep in touch through long distance communication and Jaide would be sure to visit New Bark Town once in awhile and that's where they would catch up with each other and just enjoy each other's company. He also borrows her Pokemon collection sometimes, she doesn't mind it.

Speaking of which, Red and Ethan may not be TOO close, since Ethan was still young and he couldn't really hang out with them much when they were all in Kanto. But Red still recognizes that he's a good person - and strong as a matter of fact. He'd love to battle him again. There's a sense of mutual respect between the two. Blue being the social butterfly would definitely give him connections to other people and Ethan is no exception. There's nothing too special, but they're good friends.

One day I'll get to designing how older Ethan would look, but this is what I have in mind for him so far~

vvv me rambling below about each 'mon vvv

GALLADE

- Named Remy, based on my actual save file for him in my Platinum game. Remy is Jaide's ace, and she's very attached to him. Jaide is a very reckless trainer and goes forth with anything - Remy would always be the type to evaluate the situation and would immediately drag her away if his judgement says it's too dangerous - but if not, he attends to her.

- Despite her goofy nature, he's still very overprotective and he trusts her.

TOGEPI

- Named Pipino, based on my first gameplay of HGSS. Togepi is actually the newest member of her team, initially finding Togepi as a lost egg found in the streets. She, along with Red took him under her care and tried to look for whoever may have lost their egg. Eventually they found the owner, however the egg had hatched into a Togepi and developed a deeper connection with Jaide and preferred her over the actual owner - so the owner basically gave her the little baby and she named him Pipino. Pipino totally sees Red as another parental figure

- Pipino is still quite young, so he hasn't really developed a proper understanding of battling and mostly acts as a companion and cheerleader. All of Jaide's other Pokémon babysits him and loves him. (Kaia especially)

BLAZIKEN

- Named Kaia, though sadly I don't remember her given name in my first R/S gameplay from years ago so I went with this one.

- Very friendly and cheerful, Jaide loved to play with Kaia as a Torchic and she grew to be a very physical and strong fighter.

LEAFEON

- Named Vivi. I don't have much input for her sadly, but she's crucial when Jaide met Red for the first time in decades.

MANTINE

- Name TBD, a recent add to the team so I don't have much input here.

- Though Mantine is Jaide's token fast travel Pokemon, she either surfs on them or water skiis. Possibly got them from Johto

REUNICLUS

- Name TBD, also another recent add to the team so I have to think about them

- I added them because Duosion's dex entry that states "it has two brains, which think independently causing two actions at one - but if the brain thinks alike, it exhibits stronger psychic powers" and I just went oh yeah that's a Jaide kinda Pokemon fr fr.... also it just looks like her idk HWHAGRGAHSHA

How To Be A Heartbreaker: Do you have any ideas for Jaide that you ended up scrapping? If so, say what they were. And why were they scrapped?

- initally i wanted both jaides to have the exact same pokémon teams but it would get confusing and bland... so instead i gave them like, an alternative switch (does that make sense help) like this:

game jaide has a leafeon and gallade,

spe jaide has a glaceon and gardevoir

- this is a win win scenario for me because I love those two eeveelutions and the ralts line is one of my favorite lines (plus, spe!jaide having a gardevoir just makes sense)

- spe!jaide was intended to be a supporting character for all of the dexholder kids (since I adore them so much) but eventually I caught feelings for manga steven and decided to make her a major character

- she also wasn't supposed to have ruby as her biological son UNTIL SOMEONE MADE IT SOUND SO APPEALING SO I STUCK WITH IT (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE)
